Default Fuel smell

98 ti has a fuel smell only when the tank is full. Not super strong, but definitely noticeable. I popped the rear seat and fuel pump covers out to inspect. Nothing i can see through the access hole is wet. Anyone run across this before? Thanks in advance.

Nevermind. I pulled the cover on the left side of the tank and it's wet inside the ring.

I have the same problem but bad when full and only when turning left hard lower than 3/4. Probably needs new tank gaskets

Mine ended up being a crack in the suction pump upper housing. I couldn't find one for a resonable price, so I'm going to try JB weld as soon as the fuel level drops a bit.

What is the pump housing made of? JB Weld probably will not work very well if it is a low energy plastic.

Not sure. Seems pretty hard. I was going to sand it a bit first to improve adhesion.

JB Weld sells a two-part urethane adhesive for bonding plastics such as polyethylene. I would try that before an epoxy if the part has any kind of flex to it.

Its big drawback, if it is like all the urethane and polyurethane adhesives I have used, is that it does not have a very long shelf life – so you want to check that it is pretty fresh
