Bzuefishx - good points - lots of them!

I guess where I'm struggling is finding parts available. I'm really not wanting to swap a motor because resale value is nearly shot doing that (unless you find JUST the right customer, most people will not understand putting a bigger faster more powerful motor in a car. . . ugh.)

So - good points from several people.

I'm SLOWLY leaning towards the idea of just finding a lonely 1g Turbo DSM and playing with it this summer. The BMW is an awesome car and - relatively - quick. Its just not the throw you back in your seat fast that I want. . .

Ah, the go fast bug. It never leaves, and can never be quelched.

or you can pick up an 98 M3 conv. with 115k on it for around $8k as we did. Spend $1500 replacing lifters and vanos unit. drive it like you stole it for 3-4 months and sale it for around $17K.

I have the m42 and in same situation. The mods for these things are pretty slim unless you want to spend atleast $3k. And if you do motor swap , to do correctly youll have to beef up the rest of car also.
I just found another z3 coupe and I think im going to bit bullet and get it(if he will sell it to me)...
I have dealt with modifying cars and it never works as good as factory in the longrun, well most of the time.

Eh - - I think I'm reaching the point where I'll just drive the BMW and eventually buy a 1g DSM or a 94 - 95 (1/2) mustang GT as a toy. . .

Too bad the Bimmer SUCKS in the Ohio winters!!
