Well, since Nick's stage 2 dyno chart only show 175 hp, I'm guessing you're going to need a lot more than that. His stage 3 shows 180. That still leaves you 70 to go. I really don't think it's going to be achievable without huge sums of money and lots of professional custom building and tuning. Metric Mechanic says he can get it to 225, but that's $7,295 on top of the cost of the DASC(is that $3k or $4K?). Either way, you're looking at least $10k in parts.

S52 swap plus Active Autowerke SC or Turbo.
Or S54 Swap. 250hp at the wheel means about 300-320hp at the flywheel.
I think you should rephrase that question: 250bhp or dynoed at the wheel/
Good Luck

Well I have a dumb question to ask first, the m44 makes about 140hp, is that flywheel or is that rear wheel?

Flywheel.......when you read/see HP quotes from the factory, they're always Flywheel numbers.

Default m44 250hp

Okay thanks alot, i'm looking for like 225-250hp at flywheel. Sry for the dumb question. I was thinking of it as a power increase from the stock 140hp of only like 35 hp with Nick's tuning and super charger, so i guess i'm looking for like an 80-100hp increase, does any body know what Nick's tuning and dasc is at the flywheel, or a stock m44 at rear wheel.

Thanks alot sorry for dumb questions

The best you can do right now, while maintaining a stock internal m44 is this:

DASC - $3500
NickG's Stage 3 - ~$1000
12psi pulley - $cheap
Alcohol/Water injection - ~$500

So its 12psi now???

Anyway....

Im going for the stage 3 software myself. I Already bought a 10psi pulley and the 3" MAF. Im also going to run the intake back to the floor again for some cold air and i got a custom catback exhaust from stromung (reminds me im a freaking call them right now!!) and well see what my numbers finish at.

Alcohol/Injection?? Doesnt that mess up your kit? I remember when you had to rebuilt your blower. And this alcohol injection thing, is this a kit out there or something you gotta make up yourself?

Im interested in learning this alcohol/injection thing. As far as what it does, and how it works.

Since we on a supercharger topic, will this sparco strut brace fit with the dasc? Should i buy or pass up on this, its $80

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

I'm thinkin of runnin dasc at the standard 7.5 psi (maybe if I read Corkey Bell's book on superchagers I'll be brave enough to boost that a bit) NickG's stage 2 possibly 3 and a dinan freeflow exaust. I'm hoping for about 225 peak hp at the flywheel. Does that sound right

Using the internet standard 15% for drivetrain loss, 225 at the flywheel is around 191 at the wheels. You might be able to get close, it just depends on how much money you want to spend. Why do you need so much power?

i think you would be pretty close with a stage 3 with 12psi a full exhaust system and a pair of nice and aggressive cams....

cams for boost are different for NA. You want high lift and as close to standard duration as possible.. otherwise you just start blowing your compressed air out the exhaust ports before they close

Sorry for the stupid question, but how much rear wheel hp would you get from just the DASC+Stage 2 software? Thanks

Here's the info from Nick G's site. I'm assuming the dyno numbers are at the rear wheels.

M44 318/Z3 Supercharged ECU Software

Finally there is software specifically made for the 1996-1999 BMW M44 engine running a positive displacement Eaton M62 Supercharger. The building block of all stages is the reprogrammed DME. Hundreds of hours have been spent studying, figuring out, and reprogramming the computer. The result: excellent drivability, no check engine lights, and increased power. All stages have the following features in common:

* Increased engine rev limiter to 6800rpm
* Removed vehicle speed limiter
* No Check Engine light if DISA valve is removed
* Remapped fuel and spark maps
* Lambda control and adaption remain functional
* Elimination of surging during light boost conditions
* Revised HFM error table to eliminate faults due to HFM pegging

Below is a description of the various stages offered:
Stage1: 168 hp, 147 lb ft

Stage 1 consists of reprogramming the customer's DME. Power peaks were increased by 5.9ft-lbs and 5.4hp at the rear wheels on our test car, and as much as 12ft-lbs of torque was gained at the rear wheels in the midrange. Gains are achieved by modifying the spark advance and fuel mixtures to better suit the boost pressure that the engine encounters. This program relies on the rising rate fuel pressure regulator to be installed and functioning properly.

Price: $449 plus shipping

Stage2: 175 hp, 148 lb ft

Stage2 further improves power and reliability by eliminating the rising rate fuel pressure regulator and replacing the factory fuel injectors with larger units. Power gains of 6.9ft-lbs and 12.1hp at the rear wheels vs. stock programming have been seen. The DME is entirely recalibrated to work seamlessly with the larger injectors. Included with the kit are new higher flowing fuel injectors, custom machined fuel injector mounting adapters, and new o-rings.

Price: $849 plus shipping

Stage 3: 180 hp, 149 lb ft

Stage3 ups the ante further than Stage2 by replacing the stock mass air meter with a larger unit and an ITG air filter. The larger meter uncorks the system and allows freer breathing. A power gain of 7.5ft-lbs and 17.5hp at the rear wheels vs. stock programming has been seen. Again, the DME has been custom programmed to work with the larger injectors and larger mass air meter. If you are looking for ultimate power from your system then this is the kit for you.
