Default peake research code

I have a peake r5fcx-2 scan tool and I am getting a code on it that is not listed in the peake table for codes. If anyone is familiar with this tool the first number it displays is the table that you are supposed to look at to decipher what the next numbers mean.

The first number is a 07 which is telling me that I am supposed to look at table 07. The next number is 02 and it is not listed as a code in this table.

I emailed peake and asked them if they could tell me what this 02 code means and they could not. I was just wondering if anyone else has any idea what a 02 code on a peake tool would be referring to for a 98 318ti. Thanks!

Can you test the tester to see if the display is working properly?

If Peake can't tell you what it is, that tells me that something isn't quite right...

What year is the car? Can you cross check it with a regular OBD-II scanner (if it isn't a '95)?

I guess I am going to have to have it scanned with a snap on scanner. I know that my tool is functioning properly, but this car is a first generation OBD2 and sometimes the codes that the DME can produce are not always up to speed with the tools, especially if it is something that usually doesn't go bad.

I installed a 96 m44 into a 98 ti and had to eliminate the SAP and the fuel changeover valve that is under the car. The SAP issue was resolved with a simulator, but I am wondering if the CEL is being caused by the FCV not functioning and the DME knows it somehow. I assumed that the 96 motor controlled the fuel pressure by vacuum and did not need a second FPR that was controlled electronically.

Then again it could be something totally unrelated!
