Hi, I've been trying for a few hours to get my ignition lock cylinder out of two different 1998 cars (ti and M3). I took the ring antenna off and I can stick a pin/wire/paper clip/allen wrench in pretty far (about an inch and a quarter) into the little hole in accessory position. However, when I do that, I don't hear or feel anything releasing and I can't get the cylinder out. I'm using the right size tool (and I've tried all sizes, too). I feel like there's something different with 1998 lock cylinders because in all the photos I've seen of people taking theirs out, the little hole is 90 degrees away from the axis of the key, while the hole on my locks is like 30 degrees away. Any ideas? someone must have done this before! Thanks. | | | 09-05-2007, 06:04 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | All i know is that when i had it done by a pro he said somtimes it takes 5 minutes, sometimes an hour...like mine LOL. You're probably doing it right but have you looked at a bentley manual? __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 09-05-2007, 08:05 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: San Jose, CA Posts: 45 | yup checked bentley. doing what it says. no luck. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
