Default Gen intake manifold question

Curious, What is the reason they be metal instead of plastic?

I reckon it's because the heater plate for the throttle body is going to there, but what is the point of that then? The more I work on different cars the more plastic I see.

Dunno, the m5x/s5x also had plastic intake manifolds.

It is most likely that they already had the design for the e36 aluminum plenum, contracts awarded to the casters/finishers, and didn't feel changing things warranted the expense to do so. That said, I've gone to the e30 plenum due to it being a far superior design for flow, but thats a stop gap until I can swallow my pocketbook and splurge on an ITB setup.
