Default Parting out my 1995 318ti

I will be parting out my 1995 bmw 318ti in the coming week and all parts/car will be for sale. Upon attempting to change the thermostat the lower right bolt sheared off flush with the engine block forcing me to either part out or sell this car as I do not have the tools or means to remove this bolt. Car is in ok shape with three to four body dents along with normal wear and tear. This ti has approx 120k miles and other than the mentioned broken bolt runs and drives fine. I live in Hendersonville/Asheville North Carolina. Feel free to email me at lokmor6944@gmail.com or call (8228) 697-8410 in interested.

you can't find a shop to get it out? seems like it's a shame to part the car out over something so minor

The shops around my area are notorious for shoddy quality and high labor costs. I have had this car for four years and have recently replaced it with a newer model vehicle. At this point I am willing to either part out or sell the car outright to remove it from my yard. As I am selling it cheap maybe someone else more mechanical than I can profit and fix the relatively minor mechanical problem.

Go to home depot, they sell this drill bit type thing that you can use to take out broken bolts, very simple to use and it only cost about $5 the most.

Good Luck

^^ Usually called an easy out. If it is flush with the block you'll need to drill into the bolt a little bit so that the easy out has something to grip.

Edit - Or just get a "left hand drill bit" and skip the pre drill part.

I have already tried this and the head of the actual easy out snapped off inside the bolt. As I believe the bit is carbide I cannot drill through it with my tools at hand. Thank you for the helpful suggestion, my ineptitude has however defeated me in this endeavor.

I will try to upload some pics within the next few days, but I would sell the entire car for $500. I could probably arrange for a tow somewhere local for pickup, but would have to factor the cost of the tow into the price of the car.
