Even bases with 6 speakers? Hey guys looking to upgrade the stereo. I've got a 95 with 6 speakers. Does my car have the factory amp as well? I seem to be seeing threads about a factory amp and how it complicates everything, but they are always for the 10 speaker system. Just wondering if I was lucky enough to dodge that bullet lol. | | | 06-03-2012, 06:03 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Quote: Originally Posted by scoobtothenoog Hey guys looking to upgrade the stereo. On a universal side of the harness it would be the Blue wire. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! He mentioned some stuff about sticking with the factory speakers because the factory amp requires speakers with an odd/uncommon OHM rating??? Also that it doesn't matter what power rating head unit I buy as it will still only be acting as a pre-amp for the factory amp, unless I want to run all new speaker wire?? What's your take one this?? Just trying to figure out what direction I need to go in... Thanks for the help | | | 06-04-2012, 12:47 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | My 1998 base model doesn't have an amp. I have replaced all the speakers except the tweeters, front and back, with larger, multiaxial speakers, and the stock head unit seems to have plenty of power for them. | | | 06-04-2012, 10:00 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2012 Location: Southern Alabama Posts: 19 | I just looked and the diagrams of the 3 stereo options on real oem. The base 6 speaker system show no amp. The other 2 do. WhooHoo =) | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
