Default high pitched whine???

so my car started making the wierdest noise ever. Its kinda like a mix between a whine and a screech. i would like to say its comin from left of the engine(drivers side area) and no farther bak than the front left wheel. i believe its my belts but i dont know how to fix it, i was thinkin it was somethin wrong with the bearings(spelling?) or somethin but idk so i didnt wanna try anything before consulting you guys, so anyone have any idea on what it might be, and if so a solution?

Is the sound audible depending on the revs of the engine, or by how fast the car is traveling? If you think its a belt, then start the engine, pop the hood and listen to where the sound is coming from. The possibilities are: tensioner pulley, power steering pump assembly, alternator, or maybe the a/c (a bad a/c compressor will rattle, rather than whine or screech). If its based on how fast youre traveling, you may have a bad wheel bearing.

I have the same problem, haven't figured it out yet either. I am under the impression that one of the tensioners is going bad, but I have more issues than the belt whine so I have to fix it

the noise only happens after starting the car fresh from not runnin in a while. like once i drive for about 5-10mins it goes away. so i have no clue what it could really be, only happens when i idle like at a stop light or parked in my driveway.

It's probably your secondary air pump.

Jeeez, lots of these going out lately...

I think I posted a comment in the wrong thread on this yesterday. I have a simialr problem annd came tro find out it's the ball bearings in the waterpump that make a whining noise onces started and goes away after a few minutes. When it was colder out it was more noticeable, now that it's warmed up i still hear it but not as bad. I'd also look into that.

Buy a new one. Replace the valve while you are in there. Total for parts should be about $400 and it takes 30 minutes to do. Parts are available from Pelican and Bavauto.

Good luck.
