Unhappy Alternator replacement tips

Was driving home and my battery light had been on for about a day had a feeling this would happen. I ran on my battery until it was dead honestly felt like a horror movie in my car seeing all my lights flashing and any doms ticking back and fourth.

Ok point is I just need a few tips what to get out of the way when I replace it I have my battery on a charger at the moment. Any tips appreciated.

I found this for you...hope it helps.

Unbolt the power steering reservoir, and move it out of the way. Remove the two alternator bolts and leverage the alternator off the brackets. In my case the bottom of the alternator was wedged good in the bracket. So to make things easier, unbolting and moving aside the secondary air pump was a good idea. By doing that, you can then jostle the alternator side to side, until the alternator is free from the lower bracket.

Interesting as my M44 alternator was a bear to get back into the lower bracket and lucky for me, at the time the motor was on a stand. Rubber dead blow mallet convinced the alternator to slip in.

Along with what Sean mentioned, you'll need an allen wrench or socket bit to loosen the belt tensioner to remove the belt. Do check your belt condition when you swap the altenator.

I found it necessary to spread the opening on the lower bracket by pushing out the hex on one side of the lower bracket before installing the alternator back on the mount. You can use a C-clamp and an appropriate size socket to push it out and open up the gap.

Yeah that secondary air pump was definitely the biggest problem but its been fixed thank you all. But I have broken the back half of the bottom mount shouldn't be a problem for me but the oxidation on it shows problems in the future
