Default Mav's Restoration Project

As most of y'all may know, my last thread was full of fail. Well I've decided to make my next thread full of win.

These are my goals, from order:
1) Get rear window put in.
2) Replace the front window.
3) Put a real CF layer over the roof of the car.
4) CF hood
5) z3 style, fiber glass fenders
6) Go through with my e34 mirror swap
7) Take the car to a body shop and have all the remaining visible dents removed.
8) Repaint the non-CF parts dark gunmetal.

Estimated recovery price: $3,500 (give or take)
Money Spent So far: $250

I will update this thread, and strike the list as I complete each check-point.

What changed my mind? I put way to much work into her to have her seen sold. And plus, I hate seeing another ti getting destroyed.

My first update:
I ordered a new rear window from a shop near bastrop. Made a $50 deposit. Now I gotta wait for them to get it shipped to their shop

I'm glad to. But the only thing depressing about this project is that with the money I use to restore the ti, I could use it for a swap. Or hell, even a SC.

I'm glad you decided to keep it Joey. Really glad. The little zippy will be good as new in no time.

Thank you Cindy!
I'm not sure about the no time, but I will get there!

All encouragement is welcomed!

weve got a set of black e34 mirrors, if your interested, hit me up.

also, have you thought about e32 mirors? they look the same but might have larger bases as i remember you saying the base of the e34 was a little small.
also, ircc the e28s were similar in style, we have one i could measure for you if you want

I, too, am glad that you are going to fix your car... Now is the time to think outside the usual and find new solutions. For example, find someone who does bodywork, but not necessarily paint. Pay him to teach you how to fix the hail dents on the roof. Practice on your hood (since you want to replace it anyway) until you are happy with the results, then fix the other spots... (didn't you already establish a working relationship with a shop when you did your spoiler?)

You have lots of ideas, now is the time to teach yourself... Good luck and have fun! It will make you even more proud of your car when you are done!

As someone who has rebuilt his Ti in the past, let me just remind you that nothing will feel better then the day you're done. Just remember that in the hard times and all will go well. Good luck mav!

Give me the dimensions of all of them in inches. I really appreciate the help!

Thumbs up

Good on you Mav for deciding to repair your baby. You must have been devastated when you saw what damage had been done. I am sure a lot of members feel for you and maybe someone could give you a helping hand. What about it guys!!!!

We're here for you Joey. Even if I don't know anything mechanical or body wise about Ti's except for Bilstein's and window regulators the one hand I will give you is a push...just the little one's you'll need when the going gets a little tough. Don't waste any more money sending Sean jpay letters. You can email them to me and I'll mail them to him with my stuff. Save your money to fix your car...she deserves all of your attention.
