I would recommend replacing the diff mount bushing with a solid one from an e30. Other than that, I really like it. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Diff arrived. I spin one side, and the opposite side turns the opposite direction. According to my "years" of experience if one rotates one side and the opposite direction spins the opposite direction, its an open diff. However, when I turn the flange that connects to the driveshaft, both spin in the same direction... According to the tag, the donor was a 1999 Z3 2.5 5 speed. Diff sticker has 3.15. I do not see an S. I do see a "R" stenciled on the bottom. Also, last 7 digits according to the tag: LF81373. Lastly, can a Torsen diff act like an open if I perform the test I did above? That is, rotate one side and the opposite spins the opposite direction? If I open her up, is there a way I can tell by looking at the guts to see if I have a Torsen? Please let me know as I might have to pack the sucker up and get my $ back | | | 03-14-2013, 12:47 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: Ft Defiance, AZ Posts: 686 | Quote: Originally Posted by Shellback Diff arrived. So, are there identifying marks on the Torsen Diffs for identification purposes? Aside from the 6cyl Z3s, is there a info source that can be referenced for other models that these were equipped to? They only came on non-M 6 cylinder Z3s and there have even been owners of Z3s saying they assumed they had a Torsen but then opened it up and it was a clutch type. Edit - Jesse posted a picture in a diff thread that shows open/torsen/clutch and what they look like when you take the cover off. It is pretty easy to see the difference. http://www.318ti.org/forum/showpost....4&postcount=91 __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM Last edited by spidertri; 03-14-2013 at 01:21 PM. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
