Sooooo, who wants to check that? The U.S. speed limiter keeps the car below 190 km/h (118 mph). | | | 06-04-2006, 03:08 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Greensboro, North Carolina Posts: 77 | also the later model TIs are probabally faster than the earliers ones too. __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | 06-04-2006, 03:11 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Bremerhaven, Germany Posts: 977 | The number I quoted was from a 1997 brochure for an M44 'ti. But, that number was for a European M44 'ti after BMW reduced the final drive ratio from 3.45:1 to 3.38:1 -- for marketing reasons. A later American 'ti sans speed limiter could be faster. You guys in the U.S. get all the good stuff. | | | 06-04-2006, 03:39 PM | #8 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: asheville, nc, usa Posts: 82 | speed limiter How does someone bypass the limiter without doing any damage? | | | 06-04-2006, 03:41 PM | #9 | Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Middlesbrough UK Posts: 34 | Quote: Originally Posted by SDKmann Dose anyone know what the tis top speed is with out the electronic limiter? | Hi, I recently had my ti re-mapped and the top speed on the rolling road was 140mph, other than a remap its totally standard this also removed my rev limiter. Before remap it was 128bhp at wheels but now its 150bhp at the wheels. Hope this helps | | | 06-04-2006, 05:24 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Quote: Originally Posted by John Firestone The number I quoted was from a 1997 brochure for an M44 'ti. I'm a bit skeptical about this, as Dinan was only able to make an additional 5hp at the wheels with an ECU remap. Please post more information. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 06-04-2006, 06:12 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT Who did the remap? Mabye some computer guy found a way to get more hp then dinan. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 06-04-2006, 07:17 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Berkeley, CA Posts: 411 | I dont have a speed or rev limiter.
