(Maybe I am just seeing things) I don't have anything like this in my 95 318ti The only way I have found to lock the doors while I am inside the car is by pressing the pin on the door. I have a blank plate infront of the window button, but it is not populated. Is the wiring existing for me to put in this button? Thanks. | | | 09-07-2008, 07:05 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Southern California - Orange county Posts: 978 | i dont have a lock button but whenever my key is in 1st position and my dorrs are closed my locks will automaticly close __________________ 1995 318ti Cosmos Black Bilsteins w/ H&R Sport, Depos w/ angeleyes and HID 5K, 50% short throw kit, Custom fogged intake, AC schnitzer pedels w/ deadpedels, leather stickshift knob, vitesse tuning Ebreak boot w/ shift boot, X-Brace, 325/328 brake upgrade, Gray millpoint leather and cloth interior, custom computer multimedia system, and Style 5 BBS 17" rims, M3 Mirrors, CF Hood | | | 09-07-2008, 07:33 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | Yea we have had a discussion about this before. I forget but i think its after 96 when BMW started putting the lock switch by the drivers side. I'm not sure i forget but i think thats what we got in the end. | | | 09-07-2008, 05:06 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | Quote: Originally Posted by Bobbak i dont have a lock button but whenever my key is in 1st position and my dorrs are closed my locks will automaticly close | Mine doesn't do that for some reason. If i want to lock my doors I have to manually push the pin in. Quote: Originally Posted by elchicano318ti Yea we have had a discussion about this before. If I don't I am going to build my own harness to tap into existing lines when I get the opportunity... | | | 09-07-2008, 05:08 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by Xenocide Do I have the wiring harness for it? The interesting question is which ZKE units support it. www.realoem.com give the same part number for an early- and late-model 318ti. Replacing the ZKE with a later or factory-updated unit would be a perhaps expensive way to add a working button. Perhaps some ZKE's built before 9/95 already had the supporting hardware/firmware? | | | 09-08-2008, 03:42 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | Lame, just looked i guess i don't have the cutout for a central lock button. I will have to see what I can come up with. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
