Default food 4 thought...

so I swapped my open diff with an LSD one, not that long ago...

http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...&highlight=lsd

anyway, for the past fet days or so the rear of the car just felt weird... kind of the 'seat of your pants' just NOT right feeling, with occassional weird clunks / shifts / noises...
got under the car this weekend just to take a peak and remedy this bad feeling I had about the the whole diff swap - & what do I find??

2 out of 4 main (top) diff bolts were completely loose - I mean so loose, I simply unscrewed them with my fingers!
almost had a f-ing heartattack...

tightened them back up as hard as I could - & away I went...

nonetheless - just food for thought.. any project done, worth checking after a few thousand miles...

cheers.

I'll be sure to use locktite when I install mine, thanks for the heads up.

well, not sure locktite is strong enough... I mean these bolts have some serious torque-down reqs - & the sheer lack of room to manuovre a long enough wrench probably prevented me of tightening them down as much as I should have the first time around.

Next time my car goes to the shop - I'm having the pros torque thos f-ers down to the max - as I really dont want my daily commute to turn into something out of a Bugs Bunny cartoon...

Man, loctiting them would be crazy, youd never be able to get the bastards out if you needed to. Just torque them to spec and youll be fine.

Wha? Locktite is what the factory uses on the front strut bolts and we get those out fine. I think locktiting those diff bolts would be a good idea.
