Default Can i fit a e36 hood inside my trunk?

I'm in the process of restoring my 318Ti, and one of the parts i need is a hood.
I've found one for a reasonable price (35 eur) near my location but i'm unsure if i can change hoods while i'm there or if i have to take it home and do it here..

So, does anyone knows if an e36 sedan/touring/compact hood will fit inside a compact's trunk?

Thanks.

Doubting it very much, wrap the hood and put some protection on the roof and strap it up there.

I carried my kart around for a bit on my roof.

Haven't thought of that to be honest, but i don't have a roof carrier or straps...
Maybe if i can loan some straps it might work, i'm considering it, thanks for the idea.

It doesn't fit. Tried twice. You will need to remove the front door panels if you do decide to get it

Thanks for confirming what i was afraid of.

I think by door panels you mean the front fenders, in order to get the hood struts off?

Have you changed a hood on a e36 before?
I'm asking cause some people say to take the hood off without struts, some say with.
Whats the best way in your opinion?

At the moment, the hood won't open from inside the car cause i kinda forced it closed after installing a headlight so i think i'll wait with installing until i have all parts including fender.

Front interior door panels must be removed if you plan to transport the hood from one place to another inside the vehicle.

I always remove the hood shocks when removing the hood because they'll act as a pivot point and twist causing damage to the shocks and hood itself

I'm sorry, but you said "It doesn't fit." in your first reply.
So, it does fit - but only if the doorpanels are removed? Just passenger side, right? Do i need to make more room in the car other than folding the seats?
Thanks.

It will ONLY fit if you remove the door panel. The front seat needs to be let all the way down or removed. I let mine all the way down and removed the rear bench

Awesome, removing the door panel and rear seat isn't that much of a hassle for me and the driver's side door panel was loose anyways.
Care to give me some more details on how the hood has to be oriented in the car? For anyone who cares, i put the hood inside with the hinges facing right and the painted side up. It fitted perfectly with just the rear seats folded down and the passenger seat all the way up front, didn't even need to remove the doorpanel but that's probably cause my doorpanel was loose anyways.
