Unhappy Help:Glove Box Problem

So I open the glove box today to get something and it won't open. The latch/handle seems to be broken as it is loose and I can see that a curved plastic piece is broken on the left side. The only thing holding it is the right side. Seems like a wear and tear old car problem.
Anyone have ideas on what to do ? I can't open it and don't want to force it open not unless I have to.
TIA

Mine broke like that. If I can envision your problem correctly, all you need is a new glovebox flap/handle. Part #: 51168146466

You should still be able to open the box by pulling on the metal "eyes" that the the flap/handle normally snaps into.

Thanks! I'll take note of the part and order it next year. Too busy moving.

I have the same problem with my glove compartment. Same side and everything. Latch should still work if you push it inwards towards the compartment and pull the latch up with forward pressure. Im looking for the part too, dont really want to spend 35 on it new (for the one with lock) so im gonna see if i can fix mine with some nice glue or something.

When you pull it apart, you'll notice that the hole for the pin has broken away. I used a cut up piece of an old credit card, shaped it using the other side of the handle as a template, drilled a hole and glued it on. It's held up for over 120k miles, cost was a few cents.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I have been opening and closing it in the manner as described by Naustin. So far it works.
Naustin, let us know what you do for the fix.
Aceyx,I'll look into your idea.
