Possible or does it require a new bumper? Pic for reference

If I understand correctly, you need the license plate replacement strip, just under $10 at Bav Auto, part #51 11 1 960 857.

correct, I just replaced my front plate piece with it:

Bumper guard 51 11 1 960 857 ($8.96 after discount from Tischer BMW)

*Pry out the center plug on the plate pc. then pry it out from the center.
*Slide the new center pc. in, insert both ends over the side guard pcs, and press into bumper lip from the center. Much cleaner front end....

Ummmm, I have the M package, and I simply unscrewed the front license plate holder. There's a plastic molding that says BMW beneath it. maybe the previous owner is responsible?
