Default Mileage too high ??? 200k

I found a local Ti for sale. It is at a local car lot that they purchased from auction. The car is a 1 owner Alabama car w/ records. No wreck damage & clean carfax. The plastic cooling system parts have been replaced. The P.O. also used synthetic oil. The window tracks had been replaced.

The only 2 issues I found are 1) it has 202k miles, 2) smelled a rotten egg odor, from the exhaust 3) the driver's pull handle & mirror switch are missing. The car didn't quite have the power I've seen in other Ti's. The salesman said the BMW mech that just looked at the car said it needed a tune-up. Now why did it see a mech??? The car lot wouldn't have taken it to a shop unless something was amiss.

I think smelly egg is usually cat related.
I don't consider the mileage a problem.

I would make sure the CEL is on when you start the car up.

Thanks! I forgot to check for the CEL or MIL light at start-up. That's a great way to turn it off....just unplug it!

If you have an android phone, ELM327 Bluetooth obd2 reader from eBay for $10 and Torque android app for $5 makes a very portable way to check for codes. Of course the dealer can also clear them before you check.

I looked at an E30 where the previous owner used black tap to cover the CEL.
