I really want to do that, this is just to have some fun doing it for a first time. I wouldn't mind taking my ti to the 1/4.... It might finish in under 20 seconds. Still beat my stang though. 17.88 on drag radials. 88hp FTL __________________ No more ti. | | | 04-06-2012, 06:31 AM | #2196 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Just ordered about $1200 worth of stuff from ECS... I was close to having numerous heart attacks during installation, especially when one of the clips snapped. I have to say, I'm that happy with the lights though! The HID's are such a step up from standard halogen's. I mounted the LHS ballast to the alarm under the hood! I then realized I should have mounted the ballast to the support bar, but wasn't prepared to take the headlights out again and risk breaking clips. I did mount the RHS to the support bar though. Can't wait to go for a drive tonight! | | | 04-07-2012, 07:18 AM | #2198 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | - Swapped wheels around on the two ti's. Style 68's are now on the 97, went back to the style 27's on the 95.
- Pulled the seats on the 95 and vaccumed, scrubbed and shampooed the carpets.
- Cleaned and lubed the Sport seats out of the car
- Pulled the front door panels on the 95 to get the fabric repaired at an upholstery shop.
- Pulled the allen bolts I used to replace the shear bolts on the 95 and reinstalled them with a touch of Loctite blue.
- Installed a new drivers side door sill trim piece with new clips on the 95
- inspected the engine bay on the 97. Small coolant leak, looks from the bleeder screw.
- Took the leather off an old E36 armrest preparing for fitting a new cover tomorrow. It will install in the 97.
- Gave the 97 a quick Italian tune up and filled it up with gas.

But more accurately it just thoroughly cleans the windshield and doesn't really polish it. As in, it doesn't polish-out pits and scratches. I first read about using it in a BMW service bulletin about chattering wipers. I think of it like using a clay bar on your paint - it gets it cleaner than a wash sponge can. The end results is very smooth glass. And you have to use the Bon Ami "Cleaning Powder". The label also says "Original 1886 Formula". It contains just Tallow Soap and Feldspar. The correct stuff is hard to find and the ONLY place near me I could find it was at a little independant hardware store. Check Ace Hardware though. The wrong stuff is called "Powder Cleanser" and is more abrasive (apparently) and also does not say "Original 1886 Formula". This is the stuff that's readily available at most stores. This stuff contains Limestone, Feldspar, Cleaning Agents, Soda Ash and Baking Soda. Also, don't use an abrasive pad like Scothbrite. I just use a little microfiber polishing pad or even a new disposable shop towel or paper towel. Let the powder do the work. It also works wonders on stainless steel sinks and many other cleaning jobs. I use it on my tile shower and tub and it leaves it like brand new - it polishes all the hard water stains away. Its basically an ultra-fine polishing powder. The can says for use on glass, but there's a warning on the back about not using it on windshields. I think that's a legal thing though as I've used it on dozens of windshield and there's no hint of a scratch anywhere. Wouldn't hurt to test it in a lower corner of the windshield. http://www.unofficialbmw.com/all/car...indshield.html http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e30/ext...ll_bonami.html http://www.bonami.com/index.php/prod...wder_cleanser/ Last edited by CirrusSR22; 04-09-2012 at 05:31 AM. | | | 04-10-2012, 04:07 AM | #2205 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Installed an retrofit kit armrest on my 97 Sport. Pulled off the old leather off an worn armrest. Glued the edges on using contact cement and let it dry overnight. Sprayed the faded underside plastic with black Dupli Color spray. (not shown) Removed the old tray and installed the new tray and armrest today. So much more comfortable and it does not interfere with my shifting. Thanks Mic10is for your glue tip for the new cover. It fit just fine with a little stretching. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org!
