Let me understand. You want to buy a 15 year old piece of plastic that has been sitting outside in the sun and most likely cracked.

Is it these?
51711960843
51711960844

Those parts are less than $16.00US new.

Thanks but I was looking to save a few buck on a used set or even work out a trade for parts I have available for sale

Personally, I'd buy a brand new one (infact, I just did). An aged cowling will probably crack in the near future which means you'd need to buy a replacement again.

They're cheap to replace new so why not spend a "few bucks" on something that will last another 15 years?

Exactly. If it was NLA, that is another story.
Also buy new fasteners.

+1000, you don't want dull faded fasteners contrasting against a shiny new part

Then don't change the cowl so it matches the old car.

I did it on my car... All of the used ones are also in the same crappy shape. No point in getting used. A lot of the bmw stuff is stupidly inexpensive. Easier to buy new than used in a lot of instances.

Buy a new one....tie a string to it, pull it behind your car on a gravel road for a few miles, then install. Shiny problem solved.

Hey man, do what you like. I'm all for saving money, but some things aren't really worth the effort. I mean, chances are if someone has a used set laying around, they probably replaced them because they were faded and disintegrating. Mine literally went straight from the car to the trash can, but hey, maybe someone else is parting out a car and has a newer set. Personally when it comes to nickel and dime stuff, I'd rather not waste people's time by having them box it up and ship it. But then again, I'm the type of guy that carries a spare roundel in his glove compartment for the random distressed Bimmer I might stumble upon at a meet or in a parking lot.
