You want to buy a 15 year old piece of plastic that has been sitting outside in the sun and most likely cracked. http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...13&hg=51&fg=20 Is it these? 51711960843 51711960844 Those parts are less than $16.00US new. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 04-23-2012, 10:10 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2010 Location: Roanoke, VA Posts: 472 | You can get them from Pelicanparts.com for the price 1996 328ti listed. | | | 04-23-2012, 10:29 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: Canada Posts: 34 | Quote: Originally Posted by Bobtail_Bimmer You can get them from Pelicanparts.com for the price 1996 328ti listed. | Thanks but I was looking to save a few buck on a used set or even work out a trade for parts I have available for sale | | | 04-24-2012, 12:13 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Australia Posts: 50 | Personally, I'd buy a brand new one (infact, I just did). An aged cowling will probably crack in the near future which means you'd need to buy a replacement again. | | | 04-24-2012, 12:57 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: South Central, MN Posts: 1,065 | They're cheap to replace new so why not spend a "few bucks" on something that will last another 15 years? __________________ | | | 04-24-2012, 01:06 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by Mr.Squeelerz They're cheap to replace new so why not spend a "few bucks" on something that will last another 15 years? | Exactly. If it was NLA, that is another story. Also buy new fasteners. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 04-24-2012, 01:23 AM | #8 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti Also buy new fasteners. | +1000, you don't want dull faded fasteners contrasting against a shiny new part | | | 04-24-2012, 01:43 AM | #9 | Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: Canada Posts: 34 | How about a new shiny part contrasting against an old faded car... LOL | I did it on my car... All of the used ones are also in the same crappy shape. No point in getting used. A lot of the bmw stuff is stupidly inexpensive. Easier to buy new than used in a lot of instances. __________________ No more ti. | | | 04-24-2012, 02:01 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: South Central, MN Posts: 1,065 | Buy a new one....tie a string to it, pull it behind your car on a gravel road for a few miles, then install. Shiny problem solved. __________________ | | | 04-24-2012, 02:09 AM | #14 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by eldiablo666 How about a new shiny part contrasting against an old faded car... LOL | Hey man, do what you like. I'm all for saving money, but some things aren't really worth the effort. I mean, chances are if someone has a used set laying around, they probably replaced them because they were faded and disintegrating. Mine literally went straight from the car to the trash can, but hey, maybe someone else is parting out a car and has a newer set. Personally when it comes to nickel and dime stuff, I'd rather not waste people's time by having them box it up and ship it. But then again, I'm the type of guy that carries a spare roundel in his glove compartment for the random distressed Bimmer I might stumble upon at a meet or in a parking lot. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
