It may sound like a stupid, newbie question, and Im aware of that. But who here wanted a TI? Were they just purchased because they are cheaper than other 3 series, because a deal fell in your lap, or etc? I prefer TIs, over any other 3 series personally. Obviously they look sportier, and I was aiming for one. Just kind of a feeler question, to see how big of TI enthusiasts we have here __________________ Joe, In San Luis Obispo E30-> '96 TI sport -> E30 -> '96 TI | | | 06-03-2005, 03:15 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: mass Posts: 186 | well i fell in to mine because i got such a good deal on such a nice car. i like the ti alot tho cause there different sorta rare and have so much potential. | | | 06-03-2005, 03:17 AM | #3 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | I went to buy an infinity i30 or something like that. I test drove it and didn't like it. Then i saw the TI in the corner of the lot. Only went to look at it cause of the color, next thing u know i'm leaving the lot with a new car. Now that i have it i love it. It's a nice thing when you drive in a car that most people have never seen or heard of b4. They only sold about 35k ti's in the us from 95-99. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 06-03-2005, 03:31 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: tailgating your slow ass Posts: 518 | the first time i ever saw a Ti i fell in love with it . I thought it was the sweetest looking thing i had ever seen. It was soo cool because it was like a GTI but it was bmw and i thought that was cool. Then i heard about people that put m3 motors in them and raced them then the next thing you know is one sitting in my driveway. But now i am starting to get atatched to the e36 2 door coupe. | | | 06-03-2005, 04:17 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | Putting the Scirocco out to pasture left me with some decision making. I wanted a car that met this criteria: 1. Made in Germany 2. Hatchback 3. 4 cylinder DOHC That only left 318ti's, except Corrados, not going there. __________________ 1998 (July) 318ti, 5-spd OEM Armrest • Blaupunkt Heidelberg CD50 CD Player/Compact Drive MP3 Player • Diamond Audio 5.25" rear speakers • Navman ICN 530 GPS • BMWALARM.COM (with comfort settings) after market alarm system • Magnecor 8.5mm wires • M-Z3 Shifter/Momo Knob • Burlwood Dashboard • Stromung Exhaust • X-brace • Racing Dynamics Front Strut Bar • Carbonio C.A.I. • 17" Rial Rims • Vader Seats/Heated/Lumbar Support • M-tech Steering Wheel/Front Sway Bar/Front & Rear Bumper • Depos/w 6500K Angel Eyes/6000K HIDs • Clear Corners • M3 Mirrors • UUC Light Weight Flywheel/M5 Clutch/M3 Clutch Slave • E28 3.46 LSD/Mcoupe Cover/E30 Flanges & Halfshafts • UUC S.S. We still looked at other cars, but nothing compares to the ti. It is an awesome car. And like others have mentioned, I like having a car that is unique and rare. | | | 06-03-2005, 04:42 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Portland, Oregon Posts: 484 | Well, In sept.1995 I was at the dealer test driving the Z3 when they first came out. I was ready to purchase the Z3 but there was a waiting list. I had to put down payment and not able to drive the car for 1 year. Then I saw the 318Ti. I feel in love so I walked away with it that day with 5 mile of the speedo. I still remember that day like it was yestrday. Its now different machine after 10 years of owning it. I will probably have it til I pass it on to my son. | | | 06-03-2005, 05:12 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2004 Posts: 411 | deal fell in my lap | | | 06-03-2005, 05:25 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | well buying my 2nd one on the 24th. my first one was a EuroSpec 97. When I first saw the ti driving my e46 on my way to work, I fell in love with it. At that time I decided I had to have a project car and found my ti after a few months. Now I'm ready to get the supercharger in and I'll be set for a little while. I love the e36 coupe, is such a nice car. __________________ 1989 E30 325is 5s Coupe Zinnoberrot 1991 E30 325i Auto Coupe Schwartz 1991 E30 325is 5s Coupe Hellrot 1995 318ti E36 Alpine White III DASC (RIP) 1996 328i 4Dr Artic Silver (RIP) 1999 M3 Estoril Blue Metallic RMS Vortech SC 2001 325i E46 Alpine White - Sports Package (SOLD) 2005 E46 M3 Coupe SMG | | | 06-03-2005, 09:10 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | I was driving around looking for something to replace my 280zx, my friend saw the ti sitting in a used car lot and said to pull in. We pulled in and took a look at it. I saw the cali top and fell in love. On a side note, I've owned 3 cars and none of them have been what I set out to buy. When I bought the ti I was looking for a 300ZX. | | | 06-03-2005, 10:53 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: IDAHO Posts: 134 | well i always wanted a beemer. Like the looks and heard about thier performance. Then i took a ride in my friens m3, very impressive but was intimidated by the price, who wouldnt be at 16. Then my friend baught a 318, which looked the same as the m3 except a hatchback.. So i started shopping around and boom, Silver spoons was seliin his and it was near a complete replica of my friends. Basically a hatchback m3, so I was all over it.. Long story short yeah I did want a 318. | | | 06-03-2005, 12:40 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | got the e30 m3... but knew that i couldnt drive it everyday. had alot of miles, was rare, and even for a fourbanger, it avg 17-19mpg. with gas prices being the way they are, had to get something economical. couldnt settle for any import. had to be a bimmer. the Ti was the answer. got it. love it. the end. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 06-03-2005, 02:29 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Concord Posts: 326 | I love beems, when I had my 325i I was driving one day and saw a 318ti sitting in a lot for sale and I stopped in and fell in love with the hatchback look on a bimmer. I was blown away by the price and figured it would make for an awsome project car. I love the visual style of it, the handling, its got it all IMO just lacks a bit on power, but with a little loot you can change that. __________________ 1998 318TI DASC•Custom Black Leather Interior w/ Silver Inserts•AC Schnizter:Pedals/Shift Knob/E-Brake Handle•Aluminum Gauge Faces•Alpine Speakers/Tweeters•Custom False Floor System•K&N Filter•Hi-Flow Z3/ti 97’•M3 Clutch•Lightweight Flywheel•Turner Motorsports SSK•H&R Race Springs•Racing Dynamics:Front Strut Brace/Sway Bar/Shocks/Bodykit/Rear Spoiler•Brembo Cross-Drilled Rotors•Supersprint Exhaust•19” Seducer Wheels•M3 Mirrors•Clear Corner Lights/Side Markers•Euro Taillights•DZUZ Fastened•3.73 LSD | | | 06-03-2005, 03:59 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: North Saint Paul, MN Posts: 606 | My reasons: 1. Best looking rear end of all E36's 2. My buddy drove one in high school and I loved it(got my first ticket in his) 3. Got a good deal on it 4. They are a rare car to see nowadays! 5. Girls like it(I only learned this after buying the car, not a motivating factor really) So in the end I really wanted a TI and was looking specifically for it!! Afterall they won't be around forever __________________ '96 Alaska Blue ti w/ Supersprint cat-back exhaust...Dinan CAI & Chip...Eibach Pro-Kit Springs...Bilstein Sport shocks...BavAuto camber kit...Brembo d/s rotors...UUC SSK...Centerforce Dual Friction clutch...TMS 9lb flywheel...18 inch OZ Rims...Carbon-Fiber dash/gauge bezel...Momo Shift Knob...Indiglo gauges...Schroth Harness...ZKW's/ProLumen 6k HID...Predator Chromiums http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...urowerksig.jpg | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | Deep Throaty Sound | Beatty754 | Exhausts | 31 | 10-18-2007 02:12 AM | suspension install | graphik | Suspension | 20 | 10-22-2004 09:40 AM | |
