Default Who Actually WANTED a TI?

It may sound like a stupid, newbie question, and Im aware of that. But who here wanted a TI? Were they just purchased because they are cheaper than other 3 series, because a deal fell in your lap, or etc?

I prefer TIs, over any other 3 series personally. Obviously they look sportier, and I was aiming for one. Just kind of a feeler question, to see how big of TI enthusiasts we have here

I went to buy an infinity i30 or something like that. I test drove it and didn't like it. Then i saw the TI in the corner of the lot. Only went to look at it cause of the color, next thing u know i'm leaving the lot with a new car. Now that i have it i love it. It's a nice thing when you drive in a car that most people have never seen or heard of b4. They only sold about 35k ti's in the us from 95-99.

the first time i ever saw a Ti i fell in love with it . I thought it was the sweetest looking thing i had ever seen. It was soo cool because it was like a GTI but it was bmw and i thought that was cool. Then i heard about people that put m3 motors in them and raced them then the next thing you know is one sitting in my driveway. But now i am starting to get atatched to the e36 2 door coupe.

Putting the Scirocco out to pasture left me with some decision making.

I wanted a car that met this criteria:

1. Made in Germany
2. Hatchback
3. 4 cylinder DOHC

That only left 318ti's, except Corrados, not going there.

My dad and I were looking for a first car for me, and I was thinking of getting the typical Civic or Integra, but we saw a ti advertised in the paper, so we went to look at it, and I fell in love. We still looked at other cars, but nothing compares to the ti. It is an awesome car. And like others have mentioned, I like having a car that is unique and rare.

Well, In sept.1995 I was at the dealer test driving the Z3 when they first came out. I was ready to purchase the Z3 but there was a waiting list. I had to put down payment and not able to drive the car for 1 year. Then I saw the 318Ti. I feel in love so I walked away with it that day with 5 mile of the speedo. I still remember that day like it was yestrday. Its now different machine after 10 years of owning it. I will probably have it til I pass it on to my son.

Same thing here for me. Love my ti. I got it after I bought my e46 325i. When I first saw the ti driving my e46 on my way to work, I fell in love with it. At that time I decided I had to have a project car and found my ti after a few months. Now I'm ready to get the supercharger in and I'll be set for a little while. I love the e36 coupe, is such a nice car.

I was driving around looking for something to replace my 280zx, my friend saw the ti sitting in a used car lot and said to pull in. We pulled in and took a look at it. I saw the cali top and fell in love.

On a side note, I've owned 3 cars and none of them have been what I set out to buy. When I bought the ti I was looking for a 300ZX.

well i always wanted a beemer. Like the looks and heard about thier performance.

Then i took a ride in my friens m3, very impressive but was intimidated by the price, who wouldnt be at 16.
Then my friend baught a 318, which looked the same as the m3 except a hatchback..

So i started shopping around and boom, Silver spoons was seliin his and it was near a complete replica of my friends. Basically a hatchback m3, so I was all over it..

Long story short yeah I did want a 318.

got the e30 m3... but knew that i couldnt drive it everyday. had alot of miles, was rare, and even for a fourbanger, it avg 17-19mpg. with gas prices being the way they are, had to get something economical. couldnt settle for any import. had to be a bimmer.

the Ti was the answer. got it. love it. the end.

I love beems, when I had my 325i I was driving one day and saw a 318ti sitting in a lot for sale and I stopped in and fell in love with the hatchback look on a bimmer. I was blown away by the price and figured it would make for an awsome project car. I love the visual style of it, the handling, its got it all IMO just lacks a bit on power, but with a little loot you can change that.

My reasons:

1. Best looking rear end of all E36's
2. My buddy drove one in high school and I loved it(got my first ticket in his)
3. Got a good deal on it
4. They are a rare car to see nowadays!
5. Girls like it(I only learned this after buying the car, not a motivating factor really)

So in the end I really wanted a TI and was looking specifically for it!! Afterall they won't be around forever
