318ti use Z3 DME for SAP delete and emissions delete

While looking at a few part numbers and knowing european n318ti's did not get a secondary air pump, fuel changeover valve, carbon canister valve, fuel tank pressure sensor.

I figured out that all European ti's use the same ECU as the USA Z3's.

with hardware number 1438877 vs our 1430105 <- these part numbers correspond to BMW numbers.

The pin outs are the same. With the exception of the wiring harness not needing pins 64,65,66,and 72 that control everything listed above.

There may be some early USA 1997 TI's without secondary air pumps and the rest of the parts running z3 ECU's.

Another benefit is the ability to flash multiple different software with winfkp 141439320 would correspond with the correct flash for a direct ECU swap with a USA ti and would delete all the components above and pass emissions.

There is another flash that can be used for cars with headers no cats and instead just rely on a base map to tune the mixture and does not use the 02 sensors to trim the mixture.

With that said anyone have an ECU with part number 1438877 laying around I could buy?

You are correct

0261203667 in the BOSCH part # matches HW_NR 1438877 BMW part number
0261203668 --> 1430105

But only BMW part numbers 1438877 are made to work with the TI specifically and it so happens Z3's also got the same ECU.

The software numbers are not important what is important is the BMW HW_NR that WINKFP looks at before allowing a flash.

The 1438877 has software available to fit all the cars above and the specific Z3/318ti tunes allow for a delete of emissions equipment EURO (catalyst enabled), and also another software tune to run of a base map without 02 correction for those with headers(catalyst preparation). an automatic ECU may also have the same part number.

the 1430105 is useless since as you can see it was only fitted to US cars that all had emissions equipment and no EUROPEAN SW available to delete them in that hardware version

My goal is to turn my 318ti to an european spec with catalytic converter.

The charcoal canister design will need to be changed Under $100 worth of parts. and SAP and associated piping removed.

Better than dealing with finding leaks and issues with this aging emmisions systems. This will also pass US emmisions tests as I have done similar on E46 330ci's and E46 M3's

Another way to accomplish this on a 430105 ECU would be to calculate the checksum WINKFP looks for to force a 877 software flash unto it

Does anyone know if there are physical hardware differences between the 667 & 668 DMEs? For example, do the 668 DMEs have special circuitry for the emissions equipment? So for example, could you not flash 668 software onto a 667?
