Racing it and the waste gate hose cracked and fell off slamming 23psi in the motor with no Methenol and only 93 octane. No water in oil but the head is leaking compression into the cooling system which creates too much pressure and dumps the coolant through the cap after 10 minutes of driving. Sucks now I got to do a head gasket and it's hot down here. I was so happy I was running a stock HG because it saved the internals from exploding. | | | 05-10-2012, 04:24 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 593 | Sorry to hear Johnny. I really need to do a leak-down test to ensure it really is the head gasket that is bad. | | | 05-11-2012, 01:30 AM | #6 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | That's a bummer John, but once you get the car fixed, you could always turbocharge the scooter | | | 05-11-2012, 01:36 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 That's a bummer John, but once you get the car fixed, you could always turbocharge the scooter | I've already priced big bore kits and a nitrous kit for the scooter | | | 05-11-2012, 02:06 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Ottawa Posts: 579 | LMAO!! | | | 05-11-2012, 02:38 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | I'm on this. I noticed a limiter so I'm removing it tomorrow. It runs exactly 45mph before the limiter kicks in. I think I can run 60mph without limiter and with taller gears. This is my new toy to make fast...Limiter removal is easy, you won't believe all the performance parts they have for these scooters. | | | 05-11-2012, 03:44 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Leeds, England Posts: 133 | Italjet Dragster D180LC, now that is an awesome scoot! Not sure you got them in the US, but deff the best scooter ever made. __________________ Supercharged 318Ti | | | 05-14-2012, 04:35 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Well I hate to say this. I have not touched the Bimmer since it broke, Will get to it most likely the first time I get stuck in rain on the scooter. I've been riding my TaoTao VIP 1P39QMB scooter everywhere. Got 50mph @ 8,700prm wind behind me blowing hard and down hill so I need to upgrade so I can get that during normal driving. Normal flat road with no wind maybe 43mph max, if I duck down and I get maybe an extra 2-5mph. I've got a new Race Variator that will stall at like 7,900 where the motor makes it's most and CDI with advanced timing and no limiter so That takes care of CDI and the trans limiter is gone due to the Variator kit. If I can't get 60mph or close I'm doing Nitrous and Methanol to get there. This does not even belong in this sub-forum so maybe I should start posting in the chit chat since it is a "Hardley" scooter? Hope to get my Bimmer on the road soon... Also a safeguard or failsafe to shut things down if boost spikes is a real god idea. If you are lettting the car sit you should make really sure that no coolant went into the cranckase because it'll erode the bearings (sometimes coolant will seep through a blown HG if the car is allowed to sit). | | | 05-19-2012, 03:12 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by angus Yes, this is the classic way in which MLS gaskets fail ( I assume you have an MLS gasket) You probably already have head studs, consider o-ringing the head or block to help avoid this problem, for MLS gasket the o-ring only gets set up at about 4-6 thou. I run a BMW gasket for the M47. I'm not even sure it is the head gasket ye since I have not done a leak down yet. I've been playing with this 50cc scooter I got and I'm installing a 100cc big bore kit with all accessories. Bimmer is going to sit for a while. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
