Gotta head over there this weekend to check off the parts list. What exhaust do you guys run with this swap? I figure the stock Ti piping would be choking the 2.8. __________________ "Never trust a big butt and a smile" 97- 328Ti (daily) 01- S2K (auto-x, cruiser) 96- JDM Integra SiR-G turbo (1/4 mile, auto-x, road course, show) | | | 04-02-2010, 08:08 AM | #364 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: south jersey Posts: 11 | Hey BMW_Hatchback, I saw this thread and read the whole friggin thing. It took forever! Congrats on the swap man. The head gasket blew on my 96ti 3 days ago and I was debating wether or not just to get a replacement M44 for like $800 and call it a day, or go for the M52 like you. Besides doing the shorty headers, how much money in total do you think you dumped into your setup? Also, what advice you give someone that was going to do the M52 swap in order to make it as smooth as possible? Look out for it I'll also post the link in here. | | | 04-11-2010, 05:39 PM | #366 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | picked up some contours yesterday. Hopefully I can get under the car before the MAR meet this weekend. I'm also in need of a M52 ignition coil for my cylinder 2 misfire. The car is parked for now again mainly because I ran out of ATF for the PS pump since I had to keep refilling it for now. | | | 06-07-2010, 05:41 PM | #368 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Monterey, CA Posts: 770 | Send me a pic of the coil and I'll see what I can do. | | | 06-07-2010, 06:02 PM | #369 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | I'm probably going to try and yank one from a junker since I don't have any cash at all. | | | 06-07-2010, 11:05 PM | #370 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | my hoodlatch broke at the kick panel a couple weeks ago | | | 06-09-2010, 12:27 AM | #371 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | Quote: Originally Posted by dahamler Send me a pic of the coil and I'll see what I can do. | some pics check out the crack | | | 06-09-2010, 02:51 AM | #372 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | coil's 2 and 4 have hairline cracks, I'm going to check the rest tomorrow | | | 06-09-2010, 01:28 PM | #373 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Monterey, CA Posts: 770 | Switch them to another cylinder to see if the problem follows. | | | 06-09-2010, 04:08 PM | #374 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Of course it'll follow, the ignition to the park plug is being grounded out to the head when they crack, same with a torn boot __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 06-09-2010, 05:19 PM | #375 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Monterey, CA Posts: 770 | I would still check just to be sure, especially if you have two damaged coils and one misfire code. Ideally you would want to conduct an ohm test. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
