Anybody have an idea where to find parts for the Cali Top? I can open mine manually and the motor turns but the top doesn't move under power. I'm thinking cable, but I can't find a diagram anywhere to get parts list. I don't have a BMW dealer on my island so I'm kind of S.O.L. without help.
Also, I read today that the California package was only produced from April through July of 96. Is that true?

Wow, Kauai huh? Not sure about the Honolulu or Kahului dealerships, but if not, you can try San Francisco BMW. I had to replace my top and they had the full assembly in stock, so they may have some individual parts and could probably ship them to you. Here's their number if the dealerships in Hawaii don't work out: 415.863.9000. Good luck.

Howzit Moku?
Thanks cuz. Just having part numbers is a great help. That realoem site is going to be the bomb when you can buy from them. I got this ti from my neighbor in Kilauea. Her daughter kept bouncing it off the one lane bridge in Hanalei. Sold it to me for 2 grand. My wheels come in this week and I'll post before and after pics.
How long have you been on the mainland? Let me know if you want me to send you some slippas or whatever!

Ho brah, nice to see some locals da board. I've been on the mainland long time now, but I get back home as often as I can, which isn't often enough.

Must be hard for find parts for your car, cause there no more BMW dealership on Kauai, yeah? But good you get the Cali Top... perfect for Hawaii.

If you need more help with finding parts, just post up or shoot me an email. Welcome to the board braddah!

Hey ... new to site......I have a 96' Cali Soft-Top w/AC in North Jersey.

'98 Avus Blue Sport package w/ Cali roof. I purchased it new in summer of '98 from the BMW military/diplomatic sales outfit in Kaiserslautern, Germany. It was their demo car, but had only ~400 miles on it in the 6-8 months they had it--nobody even wanted to test drive it! They ordered it with all the options they thought would sell well, but as you all know, the 4-cyl ti did not catch on with the American market. For Americans eligible for diplomatic sales, it was even worse. My salesman at Pentagon Motors (yes, in Germany) told me that only like 1 out of every 100+ cars they sold was a ti...pretty sad. I probably would not have ordered the Cali roof at the time ($1600 option...yikes!), but now that I have it, I like it a lot.

BTW, I use a product called Raggtop on my roof. I use the same thing on my wife's convertible. They have a fabric cleaner to root out the dirt and dust buildup (every 3-5 washings), and a water repellent treatment that I use about once every 12-18 months. I think it cost $30 for a value pack with both products together which should last you like 3-5 years...
