I back down to 110km/h and its fine. What is causing this? i know i need new front brakes+rotors (anyone wanna point me in the direction of a guide for this). any ideas? (JUST BOUGHT THE CAR AND IM SOOO HAPPY) | | | 05-29-2007, 08:19 PM | #2 | Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: SW Michigan Posts: 90 | First place I'd go is tire / wheel balancing. | | | 05-29-2007, 09:47 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | if the wheels ARE in fact balanced, my next idea would be the brakes... I know my caliper was sticking once warmed up, one of my flex hoses had collapsed.. so it caused a nasty vibration... if your getting your brakes done, look into flex hoses. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 06-05-2007, 10:50 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Boston, MA Posts: 1,152 | +1 on wheel not balanced first. Second check the brake components. Third suspension parts. | | | 06-06-2007, 01:18 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: us Posts: 1 | shake at ~ 30 - 40 MPH, tires out of round 50 - 60, wheel balance 70 -80, shocks. check to see if they are leaking at the lower spring mount. also, loose bushings or ball joint will amplify this. as for brakes, I use only factory pads and rotors. oem are of a generic compound and could cook the rotors. sympoms are a severe vibration around 60 MPH, after driving 5 - 10 minutes, and light brake pressure. -ray | | | 06-08-2007, 04:44 PM | #6 | Site Moderator Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Naples, Florida Posts: 238 | I experience this also when traveling at higher speeds. I recently changed my bushings in the front to performance tuned bushing and it helped a little. I know I need an alignment so that may also be the issue. My shocks in the front are shot, could be another symptom. __________________ Nick 1995 BMW 318iC.
