The same thing happened to me after I was messing with my gauge display. Quote: Originally Posted by civic31g Well I hoped in my car today and noticed my milage is no longer lite up. The cluster will just slide forward, then it requires some gentle wiggling and twisting to get it out from behind the steering wheel. Once it's fairly free, there are two large electical connections that get unsnapped from the back of the cluster. It's not hard, but it takes some patience to get the cluster to squeeze out. Here's the diagram and part number to the bulbs. I'm not sure which one it is though. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...12&hg=62&fg=05 | | | 08-10-2007, 03:03 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 08-10-2007, 09:40 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: LA, Bellflower, CA Posts: 3,613 | its actually pretty simple. mine was out when i got mine like 2 months ago. its a tiny bulb that u have to get at the dealer. like 5 bucks or so. the only difficult part about the replacement is getting the cluster out between the sterring wheel and the dash. | | | 08-10-2007, 12:43 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: nj Posts: 191 | correct me if i'm wrong but I think you have to disconnect your battery first before removing your cluster. I have the same issue and after changing my mileage bulb and reconnecting my cluster, my airbag light shut off after a several of minutes. I'm not sure if i did something wrong but that happen after changing the bulb. | | | 08-10-2007, 05:27 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: LA, Bellflower, CA Posts: 3,613 | I dunno about that one. you can, it wouldnt hurt. but i didnt. | | | 08-10-2007, 06:21 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | Quote: Originally Posted by ssprint correct me if i'm wrong but I think you have to disconnect your battery first before removing your cluster. Disconnecting the passenger seat sensor set it off. I wonder if I were to disconnect my battery AND disconnect the cluster, mine would go out? I don't really see how they're related, but I guess I could give it a shot. | | | 08-10-2007, 10:18 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: nj Posts: 191 | sorry wrong post | | | 08-11-2007, 03:11 AM | #11 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | This happend to me once and i just knocked on the front of the speedo and it lit back up.
