Default Hello from Rayleigh, Essex

OK, my second BMW, the first was a couple of years ago, a 1997 328i SE.

Picked up a lovely little 318ti the other day for pennies and I love it!

Was filthy inside and out, but not so much now. Have already taken the cone out of the airbox. I have new boot struts and a better steering wheel coming, as well as plugs and stuff for oil and filter change. There is a small bit off bubbling on nearside rear arch, looks like someone tried and failed to sort that.

It's done 163,000, so should the chain tensioner be looked at please?

All in all I am well happy with it. Seems all good at the moment but early days, so fingers crossed.

Here's some pics .

Steve.

Hi Steve, welcome! Very nice! 163,000km I imagine. Normally not, tho why do you think it might need it? Thanks for sharing pics! I suspect you will have lots of fun...

Hi, and thank you :-)

Just wondered really, not too sure about chain driven. Also, it is in miles as I am in the UK, but would be better if it was KM lol

Been fun so far. Got stuff arriving over the next few days :-) Already changed the gear gaiter, the old one had a hole. Waiting for steering wheel and tailgate struts plus some service parts as well.

All good :-)

Welcome. You've done a nice job of detailing the car. If your timing chain isn't making any noise and you don't have any driveability issues I would leave it alone. Cheers, John

what's cool in the UK there are lots of breakers with parts we'd love to get ahold of here economically here in the US.

Thanks guys and yes it has come up very well. Once weather gets a bit warmer I will really get stuck into it.

Drives great so won't worry until I hear something I don't like lol

There are so many breakers here that you're bound to find what you need sooner or later :-)

Ok, so have started to get stuck in to this now.

Firstly, got me a full interior to replace the really quite horrible one that it came with. Got a new gear knob and gaitor and also sorted out the exhaust rattle. New part ordered for that lol

Also got a set of white dials on theur way, Lockwood ones I got for just over £11 :-)

Not too happy with the carpet so will be giving that a really good going over as long as the weather stays good this weekend. Well pleased with the interior, the door cards especially. People have remarked just how clean it looks inside :-)
