I don't like the acceleration responses I get out of automatic cars; never enough gas when I want it where I want it, only too little or too much. They've certainly got their perks and are definitely easier to learn, but I like drive the car everywhere, not the other way around. My buddy likes paddle shifters, but he's also getting an Audi =P. Plus on a daily basis, it's much harder to be a distracted driver when you're thinking about what speed and gear you're in and what's a quarter mile up the road. | | | 09-12-2013, 02:23 AM | #93 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2013 Location: Florida Posts: 8 | Auto I have a 1995 auto ti, I wish it was manual. It's very sluggish from a stand still but once it gets going i have no complaints. It was $800 so i can't complain much | | | 09-12-2013, 12:04 PM | #94 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Location: New York Posts: 5 | I have a clean 1996 Boston Green ti with the california fold-back canvas roof and a manual. I would also change the differential oil using Castrol Synthetic 75-90 weight gear oil. Change both about every 36,000 miles, IMO. I bought my 1995 318ti with 92xxx miles in July and I have been loving it so far. I have the automatic(wish I had gotten the manual but I got a good deal ) but I noticed there is a manual switch as well as a 1st 2nd and 3rd gear option. I have not touched it yet but was wondering if that switch is usable for shifting low gears or if it is more of a utility feature for keeping RPMs high on snow, steep grades etc. Also what do you guys think about performance upgrades on an automatic transmission? Thanks in advance. I have little experience with cars but am excited to get started! | | | 04-01-2015, 03:41 PM | #104 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2015 Location: NYC Queens Posts: 225 | i'm relatively new to the forum but my 97 318ti is my third manual car to the stable. I currently daily a 96 2dr 5-speed RAV4 and have a 91 5-speed Miata i cruise around in on the weekends. i learned how to drive a manual in my pop's 03 S2000. Boy was that alil scary but when i finally got the hang of it i couldn't get enough of driving a manual. Hence why all my cars are manual now. Btw, i live in NYC and commute in one of the worst traffic everyday morning and night. __________________ 92 Nissan Stanza - Backseat Shenanigans and Tom Foolery - sold and would pickup another 94 Del Solo SI - The Go Get Her - sold 94 auto Prelude "S" for slowww - Daily schmaily - sold 91 MX-5 Miataz - Silversurfer - Weekend Bandicoot 96 5-speed 2dr RAV - Purple baby monster - New Daily | | | 04-01-2015, 03:43 PM | #105 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Globally Posts: 1,162 | Both have one of each | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
