Default S52 Swap Maybe?

Guys, im sooooo considering maybe purchasing this. Im just not sure. I would have to drive to san jose hoping im not getting ripped off and everything is legit with no engine problems. For only $3k with EVERYTHING is cheap.

I have money to buy it, and i can sell my DASC for any additional money for things i might need to buy.

To clear things up, is our tranny different than the M3 tranny? I heard from someone that ALL e36 tranny's are the same?

Im just concerned off the things i might need to buy extra on top of what this guy is already selling? Like exhaust, differential, transmission. Im trying to avoid paying another grand on top of that.

What you guys think? Go for it or stay with my setup?

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

Easily sounds like a $5K project to me, if you have the cash go for it since it will be more HP than what you have with the DASC. Other than that, I would stay with your set up.

You will be over your head. To do it right, you should have several thousand extra on hand for misc. expenses. To truly understand what you are getting into you should purchase J!m's swap manual. e36 transmission are not all the same. There is a ZF and Getrag, the m3 and 328 run the ZF. Maybe the M shop can do it for you if you bring them a motor?

The M Shop would charge $2k just for doing the swap.

I dont think im going to do it. Ill wait till the near future. Maybe do something crazier with this car.

Guys make my choice more easier to make. From the ad, what additional things will i need to get from what he is already offering? That way i can make my choice.

1.) Inst. Clust.
2.) Exhaust (my stromung wont work?)
3.) Differential (my 3.46 e28 LSD wont work?)
4.) Tranny & Driveshaft (will my driveshaft and tranny work? What would be the difference in switching over for an M tranny?)
5.) I will need to take my car to the dealer for EWS?

What else?

What else?
1) you WILL need the instrument cluster
2) your exhaust WILL work with a "Y" pipe(although the dual exhast will be nicer)
3) Your differential WILL work fine
4) Your tranny WILL work, but the ZF is said to be tougher than your Getrag tranny. You'll definitely need an M3 or better clutch and flywheel eitherway.
5) Yes, you'll need the dealer to reallign the EWS. It costs about $120

along with the obvious components ie; wiring harness, ECU, ignition, cluster, etc, you will also need the alternator, power steering pump and resevior, a/c compressor and hoses/lines, radiator, coolant hoses, belts, battery?, and IIRC you already upgraded your brakes. Also, if possible get the cruise control module and wiring/relays/actuator. You're probably going to want to do an ASC delete if the s52 ecu has it incorporated.

you only need the instrument cluster for the RPM's. 4cyl. to the 6 screws up the rpm reading.
If you can deal with that for awile then no big deal. 100 some odd $$'s saved.
