Woo hoo! So... the car I was looking at about a month ago.. the white '99.. it came back up for sale. I got them down to $7800, and I grabbed it. I went on my lunch hour today to get a loan, picked it up after work and drove it home!! I'm so excited, I love this thing. It tripped me out when I turned on the radio.. it tells you the freakin' artist and song name that's playing! I've never seen that before! No pictures yet.. it's dark, and the only digital camera I have is on my DV camcorder, and it doesn't have a flash.. One question.. I noticed in the trunk, theres a little nub-thingy that says "wired for compact disc" ... is there a jack somewhere to plug a CD changer into? | | | 03-14-2008, 04:06 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | drivers side rear...it's in there...just poke around. and, congratulations on the new ti. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 03-14-2008, 04:11 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: Omaha, NE Posts: 737 | Quote: Originally Posted by DJ Skillz 187 It tripped me out when I turned on the radio.. it tells you the freakin' artist and song name that's playing! I've never seen that before! | That would be RDS (Radio Data System). I think all new BMWs have it and I know some GM cars have radios that support it as well. It's nice and handy too if you hear a song you like but don't know the name of it or the artist. Only thing I can think of though is I don't think all radio stations broadcast that data, so you may see some stations where you don't see that information. Oh yeah, congrats on the car. Seems like a lot of Tis getting purchased recently and their new owners finding this site. Waiting to see some pics of it tomorrow. Is it proprietary BMW or generic? I'm trying to keep the car as close to stock as possible for now (i know it's not gonna happen.. I'm too addicted to modding cars) but.. I want to try to keep the stock head unit. | | | 03-14-2008, 05:43 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Milwaukee Posts: 189 | Ebay | | | 03-14-2008, 10:48 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: San Diego, CA Posts: 56 | Quote: Originally Posted by anthonyl Ebay | Damn... yeah, there's a lot on ebay.. but they're all going for more than a new mp3 head unit would cost... decisions decisions.. hmmm... | | | 03-14-2008, 02:08 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | congrats on the new car. you want a cd43 unit for the in dash headunit. cant wait to see some pictures! __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 03-14-2008, 05:38 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Milwaukee Posts: 189 | There is A guy my Dad know of in appleton WI. Now get some pics up for us to check out. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new headunit and cd changer for the price of a genuine BMW changer. Shop around and see if you want aftermarket or BMW stock. If you keep the BMW stock headunit then you can change out the speakers to enjoy better music. | | | 03-14-2008, 08:53 PM | #11 | Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: San Diego, CA Posts: 56 | | | | 03-14-2008, 08:58 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Damascus, Maryland Posts: 434 | Get some high res pics if you can and post them- Alpine White might be my favorite color for the ti.
