Posts: 3,156 | They were Boge brand, and I believe they had a different part number, but they suck anyway. The rears last only about 30K miles, and the struts are not too far behind... | | | 04-03-2006, 04:55 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | I think the Sport shocks were Boge "Turbos", whereas the normal ti shocks were something else in the Boge line. My Bilstein HD's are going in tomorrow (I'll post pictues), so I can't wait to see how bad the old ones are. I think they're still original at 134,500 miles! oops | | | 04-03-2006, 06:51 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Walnut Creek, CA Posts: 642 | Quote: Originally Posted by CirrusSR22 I think the Sport shocks were Boge "Turbos", whereas the normal ti shocks were something else in the Boge line. The Bilsteins are gas pressurized, and there are reports of Bilsteins raising your ride height. I just put in Koni Sports, and I'm very pleased with the results. For whatever reason, I'm in the minority with Koni's. Almost everyone else swears by Bilstein. Probably equal build quality, but different stroke for different folks. __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | 04-04-2006, 04:51 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | Quote: Originally Posted by clex2 Cirrus, Could you take pics of before and after the Bilsteins go in. I plan to take some fairly accurate before and after ride-height measurements. I have the factory sport package springs too BTW. | | | 04-04-2006, 05:05 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Williamsburg, VA Posts: 91 | Quote: Originally Posted by clex2 Cirrus, Could you take pics of before and after the Bilsteins go in. Better rebound dampening and adjustability mean a lot. If anything, I would like my Bilstein Sports to be a tad stiffer. | | | 04-05-2006, 01:01 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Minnesota Posts: 227 | I have a 98 Ti with the M-Tech package......I assume that means I have the M-tech Susp??? Also if I buy Koni's, I heard somewhere that you have to buy a M-tech shock???? does that sound right?? | | | 04-05-2006, 01:10 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Walnut Creek, CA Posts: 642 | There is a version of the Koni SA Sport shock designed to work with the M-tech or other lowered spring setups. So, yes, you need the "M-tech" version. FYI, Greg at SEAM BMW (mss318ti on this board) has great prices on Konis. I got a set of the Mtech sport Koni SA's for $497 shipped. If you are interested, I would send him a message. __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | 04-05-2006, 01:47 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Minnesota Posts: 227 | Sweet....Thanks for the info | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
