I am parting the e30 but keeping the S52 and the brake setup. What do I need to keep for the brake swap? Can I use my current CA on the ti? I would also like to powder coat my calipers but not sure what color. Any suggestions? __________________ | | | 12-05-2010, 03:35 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I believe you will need different steering knuckles. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-05-2010, 06:37 PM | #3 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Hey Fernando, bummer that you're getting rid of the e30. It looks like those brakes are still bolted up to the M3 spindles/hubs correct? If so, they'll bolt right up to the ti. All you need for the conversion is calipers, rotors, caliper carriers, and spindles(knuckle that Steven is referring to, also known as the kingpin). The ti control arms will work fine, if I'm not mistaken, they're the same on all e36's. As for color, I vote black or silver. | | | 12-05-2010, 08:37 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Jesse- What did you use for paint on the ///M logo? I've been wanting to do the same thing to my calipers but cant seem to find paint in the correct color combo that has a high enough heat tolerance for brakes. Has anyone ever used the Tasker Metal Products Caliper Paint or the G2 Caliper Paint? | | | 12-06-2010, 01:06 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: Reading, PA Posts: 140 | this is completely off-subject but you said you're parting out your e30? what diff did it have? just wondering cause im in need of one badly | | | 12-06-2010, 03:08 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | 3.73 but I think I need to keep it for my swap. What ratio comes stock on a clubsport? __________________ | | | 12-06-2010, 03:12 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | I definitely like the black calipers. What did you use for the ///M stamp? So what I have pictured will directly bolt up since it all came from my 99 m3? __________________ | | | 12-06-2010, 03:13 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by Platanos 3.73 but I think I need to keep it for my swap. I used Testors model paint for the ///M logo and Duplicolor caliper paint for the calipers/carriers. If you take your calipers to the powder coater, make sure you mask off the bolt holes and machined surfaces | | | 12-07-2010, 03:43 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | How does the model paint hold up to the heat? __________________ | | | 12-07-2010, 03:51 AM | #11 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by Platanos How does the model paint hold up to the heat? | Not really sure if it'll hold up. My car hasn't ran in two years Figured what the heck, if it holds up cool, if not oh well. Can't see it anyway with the wheels I'm running(e39 style 5's & style 19's). | | | 12-18-2010, 06:33 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | I wanna get the m coupe/mz3 rear setup. The price seems alright at best. For that much, I'd expect to see a limited slip diff tucked in there with a nice shiny finned cover. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
