From what I can tell... the amp is intact. They never spliced the harness and the speakers are still directly hooked into the amp. Here are some pictures of the setup. The amp and harness: Rear Speakers: What are the specs on the amp? What is the wattage and RMS for the stock amp? I should be alright to go ahead and replace the individual speakers then with some after market alpine? | | | 04-01-2009, 12:49 AM | #17 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: Central Florida Posts: 678 | Yep... If everything is hooked up to the AMP correctly from the HU, then all you need is to upgrade the speakers. There is a STCKY thread about speaker sizes, and hot to install them, since our cars have ODD brackets. Front Kicks are 5 1/2" Mid-Woofers, and the rears are 4 1/4" Mids, all tweeters are 1" and the Mid's on the door I'm not sure the size. if you're getting good clean sound from the front Mids and tweeters, don't bother replacing, same for the rear tweeters. the others you simply replace with better ones. __________________ 2LT Rodriguez CA ARNG TURBO 96' Sport, Alaska Blue, Auto Custom JohnBoy Turbo, Midnight-Tunning Software, HKS BOV, e-Pod Gauge Pod, BavAuto Springs, Bilstein Sport, e30 3.73 LSD, Depo P36, Apexcone 55w HID, OEM Spoiler, M3 Lip, M3 Mesh Grill, Crossdrilled Rear Rotors, M3 Front Brakes, Sparco 3 point Harness, Euro M3 Wheel, K&N cone, Clear Corner/Sides/Tails, M3 Center Console & Arm-rest, M3 Red Cluster Needles, M3 Mirrors & Side Skirts, RD Exhaust, DS-1 wheels!... | | | 04-01-2009, 01:08 AM | #18 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: US Posts: 22 | Does anyone know what the specs are on the amp? The AMP on the car has the power for Aftermarket Speakers, it will work just fine, my front kicks and rear Mids are aftermarket... Remember that our AMP is Tuned Specifically for our cars, and is a 10 channel AMP... it is more than enough to power any speakers that are OEM size/equivalent... all you need to do is add powered sub to add the bass it is lacking... there is no need to spend more money on sound gear than what the car is worth!... You don't need to spend that much to get good quality sound on your car... besides adding all those amps, subs, wiring, crossovers, etc... will just make the car heavier! and you'll begin to loose your hearing at an early age!... Hearing is the one sense you can't get back... __________________ 2LT Rodriguez CA ARNG TURBO 96' Sport, Alaska Blue, Auto Custom JohnBoy Turbo, Midnight-Tunning Software, HKS BOV, e-Pod Gauge Pod, BavAuto Springs, Bilstein Sport, e30 3.73 LSD, Depo P36, Apexcone 55w HID, OEM Spoiler, M3 Lip, M3 Mesh Grill, Crossdrilled Rear Rotors, M3 Front Brakes, Sparco 3 point Harness, Euro M3 Wheel, K&N cone, Clear Corner/Sides/Tails, M3 Center Console & Arm-rest, M3 Red Cluster Needles, M3 Mirrors & Side Skirts, RD Exhaust, DS-1 wheels!... | | | 04-01-2009, 01:59 AM | #20 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: US Posts: 22 | LOL.... thx... at 35 and 3 girls... my hearing is already going!!! I just wanted a nice clear sound with some decent bass in my car. I didn't want anything that would rattle my car as I drove down the street... just something nice that I can feel when I'm driving around. Call it midlife crisis or something!!! Would you recommend then just add a mono amp and sub then? Should I also replace the kick woofers and the rear mids? | | | 04-01-2009, 02:17 AM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: Central Florida Posts: 678 | Quote: Originally Posted by lpossie LOL.... thx... at 35 and 3 girls... my hearing is already going!!! Yes by this time your kicks and rear mids might need to be replaced, and a self powered 6 1/2" or 8" Bazooka will give you the Fullness you're looking for. __________________ 2LT Rodriguez CA ARNG TURBO 96' Sport, Alaska Blue, Auto Custom JohnBoy Turbo, Midnight-Tunning Software, HKS BOV, e-Pod Gauge Pod, BavAuto Springs, Bilstein Sport, e30 3.73 LSD, Depo P36, Apexcone 55w HID, OEM Spoiler, M3 Lip, M3 Mesh Grill, Crossdrilled Rear Rotors, M3 Front Brakes, Sparco 3 point Harness, Euro M3 Wheel, K&N cone, Clear Corner/Sides/Tails, M3 Center Console & Arm-rest, M3 Red Cluster Needles, M3 Mirrors & Side Skirts, RD Exhaust, DS-1 wheels!... | | | 04-01-2009, 02:22 AM | #22 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: US Posts: 22 | great recommendation... the bazooka should be pretty easy to install.. nothing much to it!! I don't wanna be rattling bits of the car loose or scaring old ladies in their homes as I drive past or anything, just getting that lovely sub tingle in my bones a little... | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
