Default fog light, the best way/ones

ok i notice, i have no fog lights (the driving lights that go inside the front bumper, 1 on each side). i want fog lights because when i drive on the road, its quite funny, i cant see it, or the lines that im supposed to be within, so i'll usually start swerving in and out of my lane and im sure it pisses other drivers off anyway. which fog lights should i get? i know mines not prewired, i actually have the OEM switch for fog lights that hook into the fuse box, i guess i dont want any aftermarket little circle fog lights, i want the fog light to be OEM. but not at oem price . any suggestions where to get it from and where to install it?

there have been some complaints about him, but I got the fog lights and brackets from FknFastM3 for $120 shipped. Talk to him on AIM and see if he can help you out. He said he was several parts cars to work with.

i'm a little confused. you have the oem fog switch that goes to the right of the instrument cluster (looks exactly like the headlight switch, only one position and doesn't spin)? if that's the case, your car may be wired, but somebody removed them.

are the knockout panels on the bumper there? are there wires behind it? do you have the relay for the fog lights (pop the hood and check the fuse box)?

Default Fog Lights $$$$$

This guy on Ebay was selling the complete OEM kit for $219.00, is this a good price?

That seems high to me. Check your local dealer- I thought the OEM kit was under $200 and there would be no shipping (but tax yes). I got mine second hand but never installed for $120 shipped.

Default Installing Fog Lights

How hard is it to install the OEM fog lights? Can someone who did it, give me their thoughts?

Exclamation

I didnt do the foglights myself but my mechanic told me what he went thru... putting them in a car not wired for it. Yeah it was a good chuck of change. Id not recommend unless youre very comfortable with wiring and your cars wiring.

I got my installed and wired in an afternoon. It really wasn't that hard at all. The hardest past was getting the brake duct vents backinto the right position ( I had to remove them to get the fog light brackets in).

Default Install

Where in the firewall did you run the wires through?
How much of the gauge panel did you have to remove?

I ran it through the firewall right behind the fuse box on the driver side. I didn't wire up the guage panel though, that probably saved me alot of time. I do plan on wiring up that little light since I need to replace a couple bulbs back there anyways.

Default Wiring

What little light? Are you saying that the dashboard has a light indicator telling you the fog lights are on? I was referring to the OEM knob that you pull to engage the fog lights. It looks identical to the head light knob, but on the other side. Did you install the fog light knob to the right of the guages?

Certainly in the UK there is a warning light in the instrument cluster for the front and rear foglights. Also I have a 98 318ti without front fogs and the switch is only one position, so to install front fogs as well I would need a new switch with the two pull positions. In actual fact I think the fog lights look better than they perform! LOL In virtually all of my last 6 or 7 new cars they have all been fitted with foglights and I dont think I have ever used them! (It is illegal in this country to drive with fog lights on unless it is actually foggy or poor visibility and that does not include darkness! <BG> )

Best regards David
