It's the "Passive Setting" as opposed to the "Active Setting"... go figure!

Yup since i work in construction i see it all the time. Especially in new houses they take all the new copper plumbing and just leave the contractor staring without being able to do anything about it. That's why we lock up everything.

this taken from wiki:
Due to the use of valuable precious metals including platinum, palladium, and rhodium, catalytic converters are a target for thieves. The problem is especially common among late-model Toyota trucks and SUVs, due to their high ground clearance and easily-removed bolt-on catalytic converters. Welded-in converters are also at risk of theft from SUVs and trucks, as they can be easily removed with a battery powered reciprocating saw.[

While I love wiki, I have to wonder if reading this kind of stuff gives the wrong people the idea? However, so much good comes out of the sharing of knowledge, we must understand and accept the potential of the downside. Good with the bad...

yeah you damn right about that. ultimately it comes down to people's individual choices, but still, i'm willing to bet there's a ton of monkey-see-monkey-doers out there. especially w/ all the copper theft going around - people see it on the news and go jack copper pipes straight off the side of somebody's bldg. wtf

i can post the EBA doc on fitting it in the downloads section for you. from what i remember, it was fairly involved, but not too bad. probably no worse than the heated seat retrofit (still have to do that one).

Well damn. And here I was thinking that you were making it up. LOL

So, what's it supposed to do? I'm assuming that it's to repel birds, but my assumptions have been a bit off this evening.

How much did it cost?

While you're doing that one, you should install some wire mesh in your air intake to keep rodents from stockpiling food in your airbox.

Well, imagine that. LOL I was thinking that "marten" was German for "martin" (the bird). But, it's german for "marten" ;-) Are martens really a problem in Colorado? Or does the kit work for cats, squirrels, etc. too?

Geez... I was just looking through the install manual and realized that I was laughing because such a thing actually exists.
