Default 95 1.8L - 96 1.9L differences.

im trying to find a plug wire set for under $200, and the only set i can find is from www.turnermotorsport.com but they're for a 95 1.8L. the site says i cant use them, they are BERU 8mm plug wires for $185, can i use them and if not; why?

thanks

Or you could buy a coil on plug conversion from a member off this forum and never need wires again...

95 and 96 are very similar in the engine bay, the 1.8 uses a lot of 96 parts..
I'd call turner...

I "think" most M42's have a different ignition setup than the ti. The early m42's used in M30's and early e36's have a different coil pack than what was used in the ti. My car is an M42, but I use a M44 style coil.
If you are looking for low cost, try AutohausAZ (you can get a Bosch wire set there for around $100). If you are looking for performance, try http://www.hqautosport.com/products1.html (although I don't know if this really has any performance gains, it looks great and is a deal if you needed a coilpack, too

Nice valve cover and intake plenum, Tom D.

I really like the idea and reliability of the c.o.p. setup, and thats extremely cheap compared to wires.

thanks guys

nice looking bay there, Tom. I wonder if that intake would fit the M44 and if it would do anything as a performance boost over the dual plane

I did my COP conversion all by myself for 30 bucks. I was in the same boat, needed wires then saw post on how to do your own COP conversion.

I'm pretty sure the newer manifold would give the better performance, it at least looks like it would flow better

Several have fiddled with it on the M42 web page, the older manifold makes better top end HP, it makes less HP in the lower mid range by a lot. If the stories all add up.

It does look like the 6 cyl E36 manifold in a way...

the e30 manifold looks more like the intake of the 1977 M10 that was in the car.

Finally found the post on the kits http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=33158

but I can't find the thread on the diy kit. Would love to make one myself and save 300 bucks if possible. The m44 kit is nice but so much more expensive than the m42 kit...
