I perfer quality over price. You get what you pay for but the most expensive isn't always the best and the cheapest never is. __________________ I'm back with a different 95 ti | | | 04-11-2006, 07:14 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | Either Dinan or Jim Conforti. If you get the Dinan then you will have to take it to an authorized dealer and they will program it. If you get the Jim Conforti chip which is was I have and $50 cheaper then you can do it your self. I believe the JC Chip is the favorite one right now. Check it out at Turnermotorsports.com | | | 04-11-2006, 07:20 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Berkeley, CA Posts: 411 | Which one gives more power? Are any of them over 91 octane? If I put anything lower my car rattles already. Thanks __________________ I'm back with a different 95 ti | | | 04-11-2006, 07:33 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | I believe the Dinan is supposed put out 11hp and the JC has 10hp. The 1hp doesnt really make a difference, but their both the same as to the hp/tq gains, rev limiter is raised (actually idk if the dinan does that, need to confirm) and governor is shut off. You are better off getting the JC Chip for it being just about the same as Dinan and $50 cheaper and it's DYI unlike the Dinan where you have to pay for the install. | | | 04-11-2006, 08:33 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Berkeley, CA Posts: 411 | true, thanks. If your racing just don't shift until at least 7k. That will help with those pesky Porsches. Dinan Rev limiter is 7k. | | | 04-12-2006, 05:51 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Florida Posts: 1,595 | Quote: Originally Posted by 318tiRedLeather for the dinan m42 chip, why can't you install it yourself? | EWS | | | 04-12-2006, 05:54 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Berkeley, CA Posts: 411 | Well, I looked down and it was just at the limit on the tachometer. Scarred me to hell. This mechanic told me that it doesn't have a rev limiter. What would cause this? I am clueless when it comes to gasoline engines. lol Would love this car as a.....TDti, would it be? __________________ I'm back with a different 95 ti | | | 04-12-2006, 06:00 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Plano Texas Posts: 206 | Quote: Originally Posted by Viper3812 EWS | Im not sure my car has this. I personally don't see a problem with taking the RPMs to 6k+, and autocossing they get up to 7k for me. You have the M42 which is also a stronger engine due to forged internals and a better counter balanced crankshaft. When you say that needle was at that limit do you mean the redline area about 6.25k? Or more like 7k? Or past a reading? Im assuming you know what the rev limiter sounds like-it makes a real fast dadadadadadadada sound. | | | 05-03-2006, 08:01 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Berkeley, CA Posts: 411 | finally got the picture Here is my engine. It starts to whistle at 5500 in 3rd. Higher gear/rpm higher whistle. I posted a pic of the engine. It is above on this page. __________________ I'm back with a different 95 ti | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
