Default 1995 318TI Manual 223K - Advice on Whether or Not I Should Buy?

Hello everyone... Figured I would attempt to get advice from the pros on these cars.

I am a college student that is looking for a car to get me back and forth to school that is fairly decent on gas and, preferablly, looks nice. I do not want to spend any more than $2000 on a car as I only have $2900 from my loans to get me through school. My last car's trans blew twice on me so we were forced to sell for parts and now I am car-less.

Want to know if I can depend on this car even with the 223K miles on it. We replace engines all the time and fix cars up, but I am an hour and a half away from our shop so if I breaks down, I would have to pay someone to fix it

The link is Here and was posted only a bit ago so if it is a great deal then I am going to have to hit the seller up asap.

I was reading about the suspension going and the seller does not mention anything about replacing it, so I may have to do that soon if I buy, but what I am more worried about is having to replace the engine as I have never owned a BMW and have no idea how long they last. My dad's truck is running smooth as 270k miles while past cars we have owned died at around 180k.

Any advice is appreciated and thanks ahead of time...

I was going to buy this car, but wouldnt pay more than 1500 for it. Records or not, its fatigued and i guarantee there is some rust on the underside. There are ways to check the suspension before purchase, i did it when i bought the black sport in my sig, down in Kentucky. Let me know if you need any help. There are a couple other members in MI that can likely help.

It's a 223k mile car. You can't expect it to run problem free but you can do preventive maintenance on it when cash and time allows. Do the cooling system refresh first and that will insure your engine health. Then work on the suspensions later. It has new clutch, brake pads, windshield, spark plugs, plug wires, coil, rack and pinion, Have receipts for a lot of the work that has been done to the car over the years. Verify the work done, ask for receipts.
Good luck!
