Default Coolant Temp Sensor - Did I F-Up?

Hey all
Recently replaced my coolant temp sensor due to a code (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_6103) #7 Part number 13621703993

Thing is, I'm a hack and just went in there and replaced it. I didn't bleed the system or anything. Yeah, got a face full of coolant, but whatever, wham bam... So now the temp gauge is acting off - Takes awhile to come to temp and when it does, it just shoots up, no increments - and the heater doesn't blow hot anymore.

I read that these symptoms are usually a thermostat issue, but given I just replaced the coolant sensor...

Just air in the system? Do I need to redo the right way or will it work itself out?

Prolly need to rebleed the system as you've introduced air into it.
