Something rattles inside the intake on my 250k mile 96TI. After searching, I found it was the DISA. I have a complete blown engine with a good DISA to replace in case I need one. It looks like a very tight space since there is an ABS pump in the way. Thanks. __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 04-19-2015, 06:07 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Georgia Posts: 595 | I removed the upper intake and inspected the DISA. It is good. Nothing broken. I will remove the accessory belt and check the water pump and power steering pump bearings. The belt pulleys and tensioners are new so that is not the problem. How hard is it to replace the water pump? __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 04-19-2015, 07:40 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Georgia Posts: 595 | Noise is coming from the water pump bearings. Too much up/down movement on the water pump pulley. Found a new water pump at the local auto parts store. __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 04-19-2015, 07:43 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Glad you figured it out... With 250k miles, I wonder what's going to be next to go out . . . . __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 04-20-2015, 04:57 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Quote: Originally Posted by bazar01 Yap. Doesn't sound frozen like everyone else's on removal? Question do you all use Dielectric grease on the o ring when you are installing a new pump. It makes for easier installation and for the two I had to remove, it came our easily. One note, I always renew the Water pump bolts when I do a water pump. I'm done with snapping frozen bolts due to old corroded bolts. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! I love this little car. I put dow corning silicone grease on the wp o-ring. All the fasteners still have the zinc coating on them. The wp never leaked coolant. Just the bearings went bad. __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
