Default Craigslist sellers tip

Hi all,

I am looking for a E30 and am getting annoyed of wading thru all these idiots on Craigslist.

So here is some advice to Craigslist sellers, stop your keyword abuse. I understand that you want to sell your car and you want to reach the most people possible, but your ads are why Craigslist made the “flag this post” button because you are spam, pure and simple.

I can’t tell you how many times I have searched on Craigslist for something like a "BMW E30" recently only to get a “Geo Storm” result by some idiot that doesn't know how to use keywords properly. So I go to their ad just to see their “keywords”, only to find just about every type of car and year ever made and everything under the sun including the kitchen sink, Idiots.

So do you really think that someone looking for that “Cadillac Escalade” is going to consider buying your little Geo? Or take that the guy that just searched for a Hummer, yes he might consider your car only if he gets bored and he can practice driving over your Geo Storm just for amusement like in those Monster Truck shows. And take the person that was searching for a Porsche Boxster that was also in your keywords, they would definitely appreciate you pointing out the fine handling, brisk acceleration and other sports car qualities of your little Geo Storm. So seriously do you really think listing all these keywords will help sell your car or are you just being annoying to the universe in general? Here is a hint moron, people looking for a Geo Storm will search for a Geo Storm, get it. It really is that simple.

And don’t even get me started on that engine compartment hood you were selling off your 92 Mustang, why you had the BMW E30 in the long list of keywords I will never know, and I am pretty sure that a hood off a 92 Mustang will not fit on a BMW E30.

I have never flagged anyone on Craigslist but I just might just start with all these deliberately wrongly categorized annoying ads. Whew. Thanks for listening.

Take a look at the keywords on this one, yes I was looking for a E30, not a 1991 Toyota Camry.

Since the ad has been removed, here is a copy of the ad 1991 Camry as a pdf Attachment 8354

lol, someone beat you to it I see that a lot too, sometimes it's something unintentional like "would consider trading for a BMW E30" but I've come across plenty of ads with a list of keywords three times as long as the ad itself

99% of the time, its a dealership or some kind of scam thing going on. there are alot that are posted really cheap, with a million keywords, and when u call them, they dont have the car, but have a bunch of others that are more expensive..

I always report the ones that do that. 30 minutes later, all their hard work will be removed.

After that... well nothing else really matters.

Aww that is too bad about the ad, and it just went up today, boy that didn't last long! But here it is, I also saved it as a pdf 1991 Camry.pdf.

Good grief, look at this one. Again a search for E30 and I get a turntable, a record turntable? Just look at all those keywords.
