It should be switched, 12v onbased on being in reverse. Need to find the connection after the tranny switch. Also I had pdc from factory, it's in the "splice box" but yes your right should be battery voltage when reverse selected dead when not | | | 04-15-2015, 10:45 PM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Ya found them under the U.S. passenger seat side. Blue/yellow I located is 12v constant, reverse or not. I suspect I need to find the lead after the reverse switch. That should be no voltage when the reverse switch is open. Actually, rereading my entries above I found Blue / Green. I'll look for Blue / yellow on my 97 if I get a chance this weekend.. Pending completion on the 97 and 98 for the reverse circuit. Prolly will have a moment on Sunday, unless I can test it at our fix it meet on Saturday. I have pinched this wire between the trans and block while changing a clutch which resulted in reverse lights on 24/7. Hope this helps | | | 04-20-2015, 08:11 AM | #22 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Thanks guys! Didn't have a chance to work on the car in question this weekend. I'll report back what goes on. It appears I interpreted GE to mean green in the wiring schematic when it's actually yellow. I'm hoping it's that easy. I first connected the Cali up. As I ran the mirror wiring down the passenger A pilar to the glovebox, I extended it and ran it under the carpet to the drivers side. Dimming works well and now when I go into reverse, the dimming stops for backing up and seeing where you are going. Cali's now done, I'll do the same for the 97 and 95. Thanks all, particularly Sweepy! __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org!
