Ok so my stocker lost compression and im thinking s54 swap. i wanna do 6 spd trans and lsd rear as well. anyone have any good hook ups for powertrain around the tri state? i have spoken with ams autowerks and they quoted me 8 grand how ever im thinking i can find the parts cheaper with some research. | | | 09-28-2010, 07:01 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: LA, Bellflower, CA Posts: 3,613 | if i were doing this I'd just buy a wrecked M3. Everything would be there for you. The wiring harness, accessories, trans, etc. It'll end up being cheaper that way and less stressful becuase then you won't have to be randomly searching for parts that'll you find out you'll need. When I was playing with this idea a while back I thought of just pulling the whole wiring from the wrecked car so it'll be easier to run everything. That's just my idea. IMO, i think a wrecked car can be had for WAY CHEAPER than finding parts. __________________ -Theta Chi- Float like a cadilac, sting like a BIMMER .... my socket is just too thick and won't fit in the hole! damnit! However, I'm not sure how the e46 parts interchange so I would do a little research before hand. You may wind up with a bunch of parts that you can't use from the e46. The e46 engine, harness and 6speed all would be necessary. It may be good to get a cheap 6cyl e36 donor car along with just the e46 engine/transmission you want. You do know that the S54 is a difficult task to put in an e36 (like nearly impossible for the average dude). There is a product out there (in development I think) sort of like a converter DME box that allows the e46 harness to be compatible with the e36 chassis). I suggest you read thiis thread if you are not familiar with this job.
