So I'm driving to work this morning and as soon as I hit 3000 RPM, the engine acts like it hit the rev limiter? It idles perfect and it runs perfect up to 3000 but then it just bounces up and down, literally like it's hit the rev limiter? There are no CEL's, no warning anything was wrong, it ran perfect 5 days ago when I parked it but then this morning...this happens? I'm open to suggestions!!! Oh yeah...it's a bone stock '95 Club Sport... __________________ -Dan in Houston -BMW CCA Member # 98349 | | | 12-01-2008, 05:54 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | This thread might point you in the right direction http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22550 __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 12-01-2008, 11:41 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Houston, TX Posts: 6 | That sure sounds like the same problem, thanks!! Since I never got any CEL, there's no code to tell me if it's a cam position sensor or a crank position sensor. From this thread it sounds like it's the crank. I guess I'll tackle that this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes! Anybody got any suggestions or recommendations before I dive in? __________________ -Dan in Houston -BMW CCA Member # 98349 | | | 12-02-2008, 02:15 AM | #4 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by b.u.ti-ful | Nice find man, I forgot all about that thread. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 12-09-2008, 05:53 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Houston, TX Posts: 6 | Just an update on this... I changed the cam position sensor....that wasn't it. I changed the crank position sensor...that wasn't it. I gave up and took it to the shop, they are working on it now. I'll update you again when I know what it was. __________________ -Dan in Houston -BMW CCA Member # 98349 | | | 12-09-2008, 06:03 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | Too bad that didn't work. Figures, the one sensor I didn't change. Oh well, it's running and that's what matters. Thanks for all the suggestions guys!! __________________ -Dan in Houston -BMW CCA Member # 98349 | | | 12-09-2008, 09:34 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | Okay - cool that you supplied the thread with an answer because it is bound to help somebody. __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
