Exhaust Question

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but since you guys know about the stock exhaust I wanted to ask here.

Can you take a look at these pictures and tell me if the stock muffler pipe should have these indentations before and after the resonator ?

I know that the pre-resonator indent is stock, to clear a crossmember.

kind of odd that BMW would deliberately do that.

I think that might be why the Stromung system hangs so low. Not sure how SS handles it.

It's been a few years, but I'm pretty sure my Supersprint had similar indentations. Maybe a little prettier, but still there.

My 95 has them as well.

I know there are vendors that sell oval muffler pipe for these purposes...
