But since my OBD-2 car will be needed to go to the dealer... What is it that they need to do at dealer exactly? | | | 09-19-2013, 12:37 PM | #156 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | The dealer needs to do the EWS/DME alignment to allow the engine to start. There are also two other ways to make this work, discussed in the swap manual. While I understand it would be easier to go OBDI to OBDI, I've gotten a good deal on a full wrecked car. Does the manual cover any of the details on putting an OBDII engine into an OBDI car? Thanks! Do I need to pay the full fee to get an updated version? __________________ alexw Arctic Silver 332ti | | | 07-14-2014, 02:57 AM | #159 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Glenn | I would "dumb down" the motor to OBD-I spec. I have some detail on this process in the manual, as well as pictures and sources of needed parts to do it. Posts: 3,156 | Erik, please check your email. I have been asking for your vehicle information for the correct ETM downloads and your manual is shipping today, tracking 9405903699300219416453. I assume your 'club sport' is a 1995 model year and not a later sport model, but this must be confirmed. Also, the "S52" donor is not nearly enough information. If you don't know, check the VIN number printed on the back of the head with your local dealer to get year and model of the donor. If you don't have the donor yet, let me know when you do and I'll send the appropriate ETM at that time, as I have done for others. Correct model and year is very important for the sucess of the project. Eeach job is unique and it is critical to have the exact ETMs to avoid problems and mstakes due to year-to-year wiring changes. Thank you. | | | 09-18-2014, 12:23 AM | #164 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: Denver Posts: 7 | This may have been answered and I just missed it but what swaps are covered in this manual? Is it for a specific engine into a 318ti or is it more general? | | | 09-18-2014, 02:44 PM | #165 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | It covers any E36 you may want to use for a swap becaue I supply the correct ETMs for both the ti and the donor car. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
