Default New Wheels - 15" Style 46 (E46)

Just got my new wheels and tire put on. I chose to "downgrade" to 15" stock wheels. I just wanted cheaper tires and a smoother ride. I also bought my first set of all-seasons(!) for this car for noise and wear reasons. I had been running the stock style 18 sport package 16" wheels with summer performance tires. I just don't need summer performance tires anymore. They offer more traction than I'd ever use, plus they cost more, are louder and wear-out faster.... yep, I'm getting old.

The new wheels are Style 46 factory E46 wheels which came on very early E46s. They are actually one of the few forged factory wheels and they only weighed 13 lbs. 4oz! This set is 4 lbs. lighter per corner than my 15" steel with 185/65 Blizzaks!

It certainly isn't a sporty look, but I actually like it. It seems more "classic" German car vs. the old ones. I'll get center caps soon. The tires are 205/60-15 General Altimax HP and I'll posts a review of those after some miles.

I've heard good things about those tires, they apparently get slightly better gas mileage

when I first clicked on the thread I thought you were rocking silver steelies

I was actually ready to just stick with a set of steelies and my factory hubcaps, then these popped up. They do look like silver steelies though don't they Almost the same design.

They actually look pretty nice on there.

Wow! I have that Wheels too on my 318ti!!

I even like them because they´re very shiny "one of the few forged factory wheels" when are clean and have a little lip too..

Yay! Super-light, aren't they? I really like the finish on them as 318ti_PT said.

these were a little too nice for me, they're BRIGHT! But yeah, these are about the lightest wheels I could afford. Some sets of SSR comps kept popping up on eBay, but I didn't want to spend $500+

Style 27, pretty common on the ti I think.

sweet set Cirrus, I wasn't too sure, but to be honest, I've been looking for a set of style 34 for my m-ti as they are the lightest available, just can't find them anywhere, been searching for months. though there is a set in Dallas on craigslist, but i'm in Montreal. 46 looks great also. My opinion was that these would help my car in all the right ways. how do you find the performance upgrade compared to the original ones, or 16in?
never saw these on a ti but I think they look great. how about maintenance?

FWIW, I've had these wheels sitting around for a while now that my car is gone. They're in really great shape and I'd be willing to entertain offers. I think two have a little curb rash now. Currently shod with Toyo track tires that have a couple weekends left in them.

The worst one:

*edit* I guess I should just let them go and make a proper FS thread:

I'm on the hunt for these style-46 wheels in 6.5x15 at the moment. If anyone know of any for sale, please let me know. Now that it's been year since this original post, how are some of the owners liking this setup. Was the ride quality worth it? I noticed the offsets have a 5mm difference than the stock wheels on my 98ti. Is that something to be concerned about?
